My name is Samantha Chandler. I’m 20 years old and I’m a psychology major at OCC. I’m really excited to be working for Rover.com, because I love dogs! I grew up taking care of dogs so I know exactly what they need. I enjoy taking walks and/or bike rides with them. There are several local parks I would love to take them to and I have an in-ground pool if they like the water. I have plenty of dog toys at my house for them to play with. If your dog just likes to relax, I'll make sure to give them plenty of belly rubs and snuggles. Also, I live with my mom and dad who also love dogs. When I was little, my grandma had a yorkie named Cassie. I loved to spend time with her and play with her when we would visit. I loved her so much that I begged my parents to let me get a dog, too. When I turned six, my parents got me a miniature schnauzer who I named Rosie. My mom taught me how to feed her, bath her, play with her, and clean up after her. After about a year of my mom’s help with the puppy, I was able to take care of her all on my own. I took her for lots of walks around the cul de sac and played with her in our backyard. I bathed her consistently and checked her for ticks or fleas if we took a stroll through the woods. One of my favorite things to do with Rosie was teach her lots of tricks. She was always excited to learn them. We even won the “Best Tricks” award two years in a row at our local Doggie Derby. When my grandma’s dog Cassie died, she got two more yorkies, whom she let me name Misty and Pikachu. I always watched the dogs for her when she went out and I was in charge of feeding them, playing with them, cleaning up after them, and teaching them tricks. Rosie began losing her eyesight around the age of 9. I was responsible for putting eyedrops in her eyes three times a day, and carrying her up and down stairs when she needed help. I gave her all of my love and care up until she passed away at age 13. I miss her a lot, but I have three new puppies now. All of them are under 20 lbs and almost one year old. They are very friendly with other dogs and people, and they are very energetic.
