Star Sitter! Free Meet & Greet!

Pet care experience

PLEASE, READ ME! :) {{STAR SITTER}} [[New rates enacted as of 7/10/23 to reflect Star Sitter status. Includes profile pictures showing my excellent 5-year record of 0 cancellations, 430 bookings, 100% response rate, etc.]] Does not include work for clients who do not utilize the app. Please note that I highly prefer to not be expected at a client's home any earlier than 10:00(start time). I am biologically not a morning person and one of the perks of this job is having more of a say in my schedule, which can be upturned by early requests. I make exceptions during the holidays as I sometimes need added time in the morning(and the holiday rates are a little incentive). My preferred time frame is 10:00AM - 10:00PM

Sam kept our kitties fed and happy. We didn't worry about them at all.

Samantha continues to be an amazing walker for our two boys. She's communicative, efficient and even helps us out extra days off it works for her. We could not navigate without her! 10/5 stars for sure!!!

I’ve been using Samantha for over a year . She is very trustworthy and gives great feedback on how my dog is doing while I’m away.

Safety, trust & environment

[INTRODUCTION]: I started working through Rover the Summer of 2018 after leaving an extremely stressful USPS job(with a toxic environment) and wanting to do something I'd love. I've been able to supplement hours and income with an after-school teaching job through community education which I transferred here and also love. [FLEXIBILITY]: Rates are negotiable on a case-by-case basis. I've spent a lot of unpaid time trying to create a smooth system within a not-so-smooth app, and the fact remains: every client, every pet, and every situation is different. I lose 20% commission to Rover for every booking. Unbeknownst to a lot of clients, they do not insure me or my property in any manner. The risk is all mine but the reward is not. Now, I am willing to work with budgets but PLEASE be straightforward with me. Don't wait until the Meet & Greet to tell me you want $5 off each walk. I have to factor in gas, time, other clients, vehicle wear, etc., and it's unnerving trying to do that on the spot. I will do my best to explain how I can or cannot make your situation work. Also, I try to keep my clients close which allows me optimal flexibility with last-minute or extended stay scheduling. [EXPERIENCE]: I love all animals so if you have any other pets in need of care, I'm all for it! I have always been a human bed as you can see by my various pictures. I've personally had pet fish(Mordecai & Rigby), rats(Gizmo & Skitz), dogs(Caesar & Sasha), and cats(Parrot). Professionally, I've taken care of reptiles, fish, Guinea pigs, mice, horses, and an assortment of farm animals. I've taken care of Miniature Schnauzers & Giant Cane Corsos-tiny kittens & prowling Savannah cats. An ex had Ember(pit/lab) when we met and got Samson(pit/am. bull) when we moved in together. They are both rescues with ever-changing personalities and have taught me a lot. I have probably dealt with most bad behaviors your dogs may have with those two(dog aggression, hyper food drive, defiance/obstinance, etc.) Any other behaviors have probably been experienced through clients' pets. [KNOWLEDGE]: I have a lot of medical knowledge being that my parents both work for the Mayo Clinic, and I have basically grown up in the healthcare field. Also, I have experience working with seizures, infections, and other ailments. My common sense prevents negative occurrences on my watch though. [WHY ME]? I love and respect all animals. I'm on the Nextdoor app and always check the "Missing/Found" animal posts, check on strays, etc. I annoyed my parents' rural neighbors by bringing their roaming dogs back home. I always try to help out animals and even insects. Tired bee? Here's some sugar water or a safe flower. Sleeping bat? Here's another thing to hide behind. I'm also a Law Enforcement & Corrections graduate who has had(and passed) my share of background checks but hasn't yet determined the best path toward helping others. I've discovered that Rover is now offering the option to pay $35 for a background check which I do not plan on doing after being on the app this many years just to get a little badge on my profile. [FINALE]: I REALLY enjoy the work I do, and I'm super excited to live in the metro. I'm hoping to build a clientele that will enable me to continue this in tandem with teaching. Let me love your animals as much as you while you're away, and if you are pleased with the job I do, please leave a review! Rover Prompt-"How does pet care fit into your daily or weekly routine?" My teaching schedule is fixed and known in advance so I schedule everything else around it. I travel to area schools which can mean up to a 40-minute commute each way. Rover Prompt-"How do you care for pets in your client's home?" I cannot offer boarding at my current place, and I offer house-sitting services on a case-by-case basis. As for my other services, I will do my best to avoid going where I am not needed. I respect people's privacy in-home and out(hiding keys discreetly, scrambling lock codes, not chatting to neighbors about your life events, etc). I will also clean up any accidents I find(within reason).

Information Samantha A. would like to know about your pet

Everything and anything. I don't want surprises any more than you. I expect the basics: food, water, potty, command cues. I expect the major: dog aggressive, abused and shy, destructive. I also expect the random: weird noses they make, weird habits, the fact that their poop is orange because of a special food they eat.

A typical day

Rover Prompt-"Describe a typical day." Eat.Pet.Sleep.Repeat. Apparently, Rover thinks this is too curt so I have to type this additional sentence to reach its 25 word minimum(as if I haven't blabbed enough earlier in the profile).

[# of reviews do not accurately reflect quality of care or number of clients] Just like the amazing item you bought online, I just may not receive a review(also I don't pester as much as online sellers, in fact, I don't bring it up at all). My regular clients have needed my service 4-5 times a week for years but do not utilize the app. [See profile photos for booking statistics] Also, know that any non-captioned profile pictures on my profile come through the message portion of requests, not Rover Cards(from visits or walks). Unfortunately, some of the best photos sent to clients are automatically private.
