Safety, trust & environment

I’ve been dog training, pet and house sitting for over 20 years, just joined Rover to streamline the process for new clients. I have a corporate background with an extremely nurturing and loving spirit! I'm a mamma at heart and love nurturing. It's extra rewarding to me knowing my care is blessing your furbaby and your family! Welcome to the family! We treat our animals and yours as if they are our children, with extreme care, abundant love, and tenderness. I take management and house-sitting seriously and run a tight ship. We're about quality, not quantity. I offer all of the services, dog walking, house & dog/pet sitting in my home or yours. Watching over your furbaby fulfills my need to nurture and give lots of snuggles, especially since I am a recent “empty nester”. You can also be assured that with my years of professional experience and background, I will safely and lovingly care for your pet and home (if required) with attention to detail. Be prepared for daily logs & pictures! Over the years I have worked extensively with dog trainers and am experienced in dog training. If you are interested in training needs, please let me know and we can discuss these needs specifically. See "DETAILS - WHEN SABRINA WATCHES YOUR PET" section to get great insight into a typical day with me in our home! ABOUT ME Professional Experience: Serial entrepreneur who has founded and owned several businesses for over 20+ years in a corporate environment. Have had many dogs and cats as family members throughout my 40+ years of life, everything from a 100 lb lab to a 10 lb mini doxie! Currently, an "empty nester" who has slowed her corporate life down to enjoy a simpler and more peaceful life. My husband and I work from home for our family business (Mark Metternich Photography, you can google if you're interested) when not traveling. I love snuggles, nurturing, and being a caregiver which makes for a perfect combo to offer special care 24/7 for your furbaby. Personal Life: Wife to an amazing husband who loves 4 legged furbabies as much as I do. Mom of three human sons who are 19, 22 & 23. Mommy to 2 mini dachshunds. Homelife: Blessed to live in a wonderful beachfront condo neighborhood. People living in the home along with myself and my husband, Linda aka "Maw Maw" who is grandma extraordinaire and also pet sits. Interesting and Rewarding: One of the most rewarding experiences of my life with was rescuing a very small and malnourished kitten in the desert while my husband and I were with clients leading a photography workshop (that’s the family business, my husband is a nature photographer:) She was scared and so thin. We were able to give her immediate care and soon after a visit to the vet. She flew home with us to be part of our family. Another highlight of my four-legged experiences is breeding one litter of pups for my Gracie and Biggie (mini Doxies). All pups now live with family members and closest friends except for one, we kept her and her name is Mercy! I look forward to taking care of you and your family :) I work from home/remotely for our family business so am available to be with your pet during the day for walks and visits, to overnights up to 24/7 care never leaving their side. Safety and trust are the basis for excellent care. I have many references and am happy to have you reach out to them for your comfort and confidence.

A typical day

Home Environment: My goal is to be available 100% of the time they are with me and for them to enjoy the companionship and care we give all day and night. The pets are with me in the same room of the house almost 24/7, even following me into the bathroom sometimes! Many of the dogs do not have to be with me all of the time, although some do, they just follow me around we're all a pack. For the special super young puppies, those with separation anxiety, or geriatric/sick pets my normal day accommodates them well. If you need training for your pet or currently have a training program, I often am working the commands and train with the dogs throughout the day. Let me know if your pet has special needs or specific training requests when booking. We strive to have a safe, loving, and comfortable environment where your dog's needs are met 100% of the time they are with me. First-Time Pet Visitors: It's important to meet the specific needs of each furbaby that is in my care so I have a detailed questionnaire for you to fill out to make sure it's a home-away-from-home experience before your pet's visit. I am purposely very selective about my booking schedule so that I can allow for this important time and also in consideration of the needs of each pet I agree to pet sit. I am very aware of who I have on my schedule and will not book conflicting personalities of dogs! Even if this means I only have one furbaby with me during that time because of special needs, ie young puppy needing training or a geriatric dog who does not do well with hyper larger dogs. I’m available to meet the customized needs of animals that visit. Mornings: We start our day pretty early here often with pups climbing out of our bed (yes Mark, my husband loves animal cuddles in bed if needed) or crawling out of their doggy beds in our room at the crack of dawn. Sometimes visiting pets have their favorite crate/kennel beds and we even have an extra room for them if they like their own space. Morning walks on the beach or whatever morning exercise they enjoy. During the day: If the weather is great, I will work some on my laptop outside or inside while the dogs play and nap in the sun. You can usually find furbabies at my feet wherever I am in the condo. Midday walks are wonderful rechargers for my batteries as long as the weather is not scorching and so those pups who need to burn off some energy will enjoy a nice walk around the neighborhood. Afternoon/Evening: We start to wind down around 6-7 pm with evening walks and dinner for the furbabies and ourselves. Pets are fed, walked, and cuddled. Bedtime: Whether your dog(s) sleep in a human bed, their bed's doggy bed, or have a kennel in their bedroom, I will adhere to the routine that you have. I’m not opposed to having extra furbabies in the bed or bringing their beds into our room so we can all sleep together. Our dogs enjoy being wrapped up in little blankets and snuggling with us on our laps, so I know special bedtime routines can be part of the fun.
