Pet care experience
I love spending time with large and small dogs, and I'm comfortable with dogs on the couch. I can follow written rules and specific instructions if you need. My specialty is caring for dogs in their home environment, or filling in for other sitters. Am in Yachats by the 804 trail, Eugene and Springfield. Occasionally available Portland & Vancouver Metro for up to two weeks. I am happy to stay overnight and follow your usual schedule. If I travel 10 miles or more to house and pet sit, there will be no other pet owner clients during my days with your pets. That means I won't be available for walking or dropping in on other clients animals.

Saamantha is awesome! Her dog Theo is one of my favorite fur friends who has been coming to my house for daycare since last summer, so now that I finally had a chance to go on vacation, Saam and Theo were my top choice to come stay at my place to take care of my old man Duke. I'm so grateful to have her take care of some of my regular daycare clients as well, so I can enjoy my vacation knowing Duke is comfortable at home with his normal routine playing with his friends. Saamantha has been great with sending me detailed updates and photos. Thank you Saamantha!

I usually do not care for clients pets in my own home. I may make an exception if I know the pet well, and the client is comfortable with that arrangement. In a house and pet sitting situation, I follow the clients rules if stated. If house sitting I am willing to add some additional services such as plant watering.

House Sitting is my specialty and I will house sit up to 3 dogs of any size, and will travel to meet your pets for the first time for house/PET sitting. For cats I will house sit without first meeting, and in some cases will schedule for house sitting without meeting the dog. I'll feed birds including chickens and exotic pets as well, and water plants. I find it's very important to hear if your dog has fears or a history of negative experiences, so I can be aware, and to know of any behaviors you are working on. I can work with fearful dogs but will need to know if the dog is a biter, and what commands you use for good behavior. I really love dogs of all sizes. For walking, I prefer dogs under 30 pounds, or well trained large dogs that do not pull on the leash and are well behaved. I house sit dogs of any size if there is a yard, and prefer to walk dogs that are under 30 pounds or less active older dogs.
A typical day
In Yachats I walk the dogs on the 804 trail, and in Newport usually above Nye Beach, or in their own neighborhood. I will take your dog to a beach if you request it. I will keep your dog leashed at all times unless you request a free run, for example at a specific beach or dog park. I like to know if your dog is ball focused and if the dog will be aggressive if the ball is taken by another dog, and which toys are his or her favorites. I do enjoy throwing the ball or toy to play with the dogs, but for 15 minutes at a time.

Availability
I am retired and make my own schedule. My hobby is writing and art of various types. I can provide walks in Florence, and Yachats when in town. My specialty is house sitting. I will sometimes travel further than 50 miles, if providing care 5 days or more. When away from home I expect to take 2 hour breaks within the local area for shopping. I would otherwise be home with the animals. Most animals really like me. I stay home at night, so they feel safe.
