Experienced Sitter

Pet care experience

Hi everyone I can not wait to meet you and help you with your dog. Let me give you a little background about me. I am currently an Animal Control Officer at the Montclair Township Animal Shelter, which I have been working at since 2013. With that being said I do have plenty experience with many different breeds, difficulties, ages, and needs. I also have some knowledge in veterinary medicine due to the fact from working alongside our veterinarian at the shelter and also because I was studying Pre-Veterinary Medicine at Rutgers University. So if your dog needs fluids, insulin shot, or something else similar I am capable of performing the task. Besides working at a shelter and being an Animal Control Officer I also raise Seeing Eye dogs through Morristown, New Jersey. The Seeing Eye is a guide school for the blind, which can provide guide dogs to blind individuals who meet their requirements. So my involvement with the organization is what is called a "Raiser." A raiser is a person who volunteers their time to raise a puppy from 7 weeks old to about 14- 16 months old. During this time I teach the puppy basic commands such as sit, down, etc. I also teach the dog how to walk on a leash, how to be housebroken and expose the dog too as many different peoples, places, and experiences as possible. The dogs from The Seeing Eye are either Labrador Retrievers, German Shepherds, Golden Retrievers, or Lab/Golden mixes. I personally have raised four dogs in total and currently working on my fifth. So if you have a young dog I have plenty experience with that. I also currently own a German shepherd, and labrador retriever at the moment, but I have own dogs such as chow chow, golden retrievers, chihuahua, dachshund, shi tzu, Siberian husky, pit, and cocker spaniels. So my range is pretty far as to what I can handle and what I am comfortable with. Besides those different breeds that I have owned in the past or currently own I have watched plenty of friends dogs who are mainly German shepherds, labrador retrievers, or golden retrievers. So to summarize I have dog experience from little chihuahuas to 100 pound shepherds. I am able to adapt to any age dog or any strength. I can provide fluids or shots to your dog. And last of course I can provide your dog with all the kindness and love it will need.

Ryan is a very responsible and trustworthy young man. He is also an Animal Control Officer so he is well versed in animal care. He has a lot of experience because of his own dogs at home, plus the many dogs at the animal shelter. I trust him completely. :-)

Information Ryan U. would like to know about your pet

I would like to know the following about your dog: any allergies or food restrictions; if your dog is fearful or aggressive towards certain situations or people; any medications; feeding times and walking times if any; vet information in case of emergency. I do not have any breed restrictions.

A typical day

If a dog stays with me your dog can look forward to many things. I only live a block away from a large park, which your dog and I can go for short or long walks. If your dog likes to run around my fenced in yard is perfect. If your dog likes to get wet I have a kiddie pool for those summer days. If your dog is more of couch potato we have plenty of dog beds and comfy places to relax on. In the cold months the home is toasty and in those blazing months the a/c is kicking. I also have plenty of toys both soft and hard, a basket full of tennis balls, and bones that your dog can enjoy.
