Your family is safe with me! (NYC)

Pet care experience

I've lived with and cared for a variety of animals since I was born. From dogs to cats, gerbils, mice, parakeets, fish, frogs, lizards, and even a few insects. I've also spent some time volunteering at the Staten Island Zoo where I assisted in the care of sheep, goats, ponies, alpaca, a pot-bellied pig, bunnies, and more. I have experience caring for pets of all ages from young to geriatric, animals with behavioral issues, and those with medical care needs.

Ryan was absolutely amazing. What a caring and loving person. She was so kind to my pup Mila and sent beautiful photos of her! (Which I actually want to get framed! Thank you Ryan for your flexibility and kindness. Will definitely be hiring her again

Ryan is an animal lover. She is caring, responsive, knowledgeable, responsible, conscientious and a proactive problem solver. Ryan is an exceptional caretaker. She can anticipate and competently manage the diverse physical and emotional needs of a variety of pets. Ryan demonstrates enormous love and compassion for all animals. She lovingly managed the needs of our geriatric dog who had a bleeding disease, our 120-pound reactive bulldog, and our escape artist Mountain Cur. Ryan is also empathetic to the needs of nervous pet owners; she is tech savvy and enthusiastic in keeping you updated. I would highly recommend Ryan if you are looking for someone that cares and is trustworthy.

Safety, trust & environment

I will treat your animals with the utmost care and respect. As someone with pets of my own, I completely understand how stressful it can be to choose a care giver for your animals, especially those with special care needs. I assure you that I will follow your instructions for your pet's care to the letter and do everything in my power to keep them safe, comfortable, and happy. That being said I will of course always keep you updated on how they are doing, and what we plan on doing together, as well as send you picture updates throughout the day. I can provide your pets with enrichment, play with them, spend time with them, take them on walks, administer medication if needed, and more. I promise to take good care of them when you can't be there!

Information Ryan K H. would like to know about your pet

To ensure the safety of your animals, myself, and others, there's some information I would need to know about them before we meet. First of all, it would be great if I could get an overview of your animal's usual temperament, note if they behave differently around new people (ex. more reserved/quiet or super excitable), and if they have any interesting little quirks. These quirks could include things like drooling a lot, having a hanging tongue, being prone to having accidents inside or when excited, or enjoying hanging out in little hard-to-find nooks in your home. Understanding your pet's typical behavior will help me ensure they stay happy and healthy, as well as more easily recognize any abnormal behaviors that may need to be addressed through medical intervention or otherwise. Next, I would need to know how your pet acts with strangers, children, and other animals. Are there any behaviors your pet engages in that I should be aware of? Examples of these behaviors include pulling on walks, trying to eat strange or inedible things, trying to escape their harness or collar, trying to dart out any open doors, or acting aggressively with other animals outdoors. I have experience with reactive animals, but to keep everyone including your pets safe I need to know what their potential triggers are. Are they protective of their food or toys? Do I need to take extra steps during outdoor activities to ensure that they are comfortable such as maintaining distance from other people, or crossing the street if there are other animals around? I would also want to know about any medical conditions your animal has. If your pet has medication I would be helping administer, I need to know how and when it's administered, and if administering tends to be a struggle. To make sure that your animals are as comfortable as possible understanding their typical routine is really helpful. This can include what time they usually eat, how they like their food prepared, when the best time to walk them is, or how often their litter typically needs changing, etc. It would also really appreciate knowing some of the things they really enjoy, such as a favorite toy, or their favorite sniff spots on walks. This will help me establish a positive bond with your pet, and keep them happy and comfortable! Don't let this paragraph intimidate you, all this information can easily be added to your pet's profile, which can be found in the drop-down menu under your profile icon.

A typical day

I'm an active person and genuinely enjoy spending time outdoors going on walks, hikes, jogs, and more. I would be happy to take your pet to any local parks, dog runs, or other recreation areas for a good walk, to play catch, or to just soak up some sun depending on the level of activity they need or what is comfortable for them. I have experience organizing different indoor enrichments for animals as well to provide mental stimulation, such as setting up puzzle feeders or engaging them in train sessions.
