Pet care experience
Hello, my name is Ruthie! I am a clinical mental health counselor (MS, PCLC) and am currently taking a sabbatical to regroup after completing my masters degree. In addition to helping people as a therapist, I have always had a deep love for animals. I began working at an equestrian center when I was 10 years old and continued until I left for college and then was employed by dog boarding facility for two years where I gained experience in dog care and grooming! I have been taking care of people's pets via Rover and independently for over 14 years, so I have experience with a wide variety of pets and various responsibilities included in house sitting. Puppies or dogs of any other age will also be welcomed with hands ready to scratch bellies and rub ears :) No matter your dog's breed, size, or age, I will love them as if they are my own! I run, hike, bike, or ski almost everyday, so if you have a high energy dog, I can help your dog release some of their pent up energy. Furthermore, my herding dog (Pippin) and my partner (Sam) love to tag along on walks and house sitting adventures. Pippin gets along well with other dogs and cats, and he has also happily accompanied us on house sitting adventures with donkeys, horses, pigs, chickens, cows, and goats. Ruthie was our GO-TO dog walker when she lived in Bozeman. Our timid and skittish husky mutt quickly fell in love with her and we were able to entrust Rossi to go on many off-leash adventures with Ruthie, trusting that he was in good hands. Sometimes we'd run into Ruthie while we were out with Rossi and he'd always be so excited to see her! This is saying a lot coming from our shy guy who isn't always quick to warm up to people. We fully trusted Ruthie to come and go from our house to pick up/drop off Rossi as needed. Ruthie was ALWAYS communicative, dependable, and completely trustworthy. Plus she showed our active pup a good time every time she would take him out. We're sad that Ruthie is no longer our go-to caretaker for Rossi, but are glad to know that dogs and dog owners in Missoula have her as a resource and we hope to engage her services again any time she's back in Bozeman!
Ruthie is the best dog friend and caregiver I know. Every dog loves her. Ruthie is very attentive and patient, and meets dogs where they are based on their unique needs and personalities. She is kind and approachable, and is also playful and great at keeping dogs happy and well exercised. Ruthie is my dog's best friend and she is my go-to to care for him when I need a sitter!
I've never met anyone who is as good with dogs as Ruthie is — I think it's true that she prefers hanging out with dogs to humans. I've watched in awe as she's commanded the whole dog park with one soccer ball. Ruthie is very professional in her dog sitting responsibilities and takes great care to tune into dogs' needs. Ruthie takes my dog Molly on long walks in the woods and the hills around Missoula and Molly always comes home happy and tired.
Ruthie did a great job checking in on our cat while we were away. She even sent photos which made my wife very happy. Very responsible and trustworthy.
