Qualified dog walker and pet sitter

Pet care experience

There is something really magical about seeing dogs romp around in water––you can really see them smiling while radiating this pure kind of joy. One of my earliest memories is seeing a dog play on the beach when I was a young girl. My family was having a picnic on a large blanket while I sat glued watching this exuberant dog frolicking in the waves. I was mesmerized by how something so simple could generate such energy and happiness. He must have spotted us because I remember my Mom shouting at this dog for trying to eat our food. The audacity, she probably thought, but I thought it was so cute and funny. I was simply charmed. Then he decided right then to shake himself dry all over us and I loved it because it was such a hot day. I can recall laughing really hard, although I don’t think my mother was very amused. But from a very young age, I’ve felt a deep connection with animals, especially our canine friends. I have many years of professional experience caring for dogs, cats, rabbits, rodents, and birds. I’m diploma qualified in animal care and I am first aid & CPR trained as well as being licensed, bonded and insured, which can be found on my website. You can rest assured that you’re leaving your beloved pet in capable, safe hands; plus, a percentage of my profits are given to animal care charities. I’m a lucky fur mom to a yellow Lab named Mac. He’s five years young and is such a super boy. He is loyal, friendly, smart, and totally himself! There are plenty of yellow Labs, but none of them are Mac. Each dog is like a person with his or her own personality, likes and dislikes, triggers, ticks, and weird habits. Nothing bring me more pleasure than getting to know each animal and discovering that sweet spot where they like to be petted. I have years of experience grooming dogs and have assisted in kennels and vet offices. I currently volunteer with WASART and have just started volunteering with Homeward Pet Adoption Center. I’m currently working part-time but I realize I need to make this my full-time career and follow my passion. I’m relatively new to this area, having been here for about 6 months, but so far I’ve found a really supportive and kind community full of neighbors helping neighbors. The area itself is very beautiful and there’s plenty of greenery and places to really enjoy the outdoors. I feel like a little kid when I’m around animals, but I’m a serious professional who takes her job seriously. I’m super organized, consistent, and observant. I’m always making sure your pup is properly fed and given enough stimuli and exercise.

In addition to being the best dog walker EVER, Ruth donates a percentage of her profits to animal care charities to ensure those pets not as fortunate as our own are taken care of. Check out Ruth's website: https://ruthsdogwalking.com/about-me

I was very impressed with Ruth right from the moment I met her. She is very personable and very organized. My dog Prince took to her straight away and she clearly knew what she was doing when introducing herself to a new dog, my dog loved her immediately. Her knowledge on animals came across and I know Prince is having the best of time when he is with her. I would wholeheartedly recommend Ruth

Ruth is a very kind and patient person with a natural affinity for animals, especially dogs. We have a rescue dog with some behavioral and health problems and Ruth has always given great support and advice when things have been difficult. Above all, Ruth is a trustworthy and sensible person and I know that our dog is always safe and well cared for when with her. Even more importantly, our dog loves her!

Information Ruth M. would like to know about your pet

I offer a realm of pet care services: pet sitting, dog walking, home visits, taxi service, puppy socialization, medication administration, basic animal grooming, and if you need something else–– just ask! I have different approaches for different dogs. Dogs do not speak our language though they all communicate very well, we just need to pick up on those communication signals. Consistency is the key from me, dogs like routine and the more routine from me the better. I have studied and worked with scared dogs, nervous dogs, fearful dogs, and happy dogs. When booking with me, you’ll know right away that I know how to care for your own special fur baby. I’ll be reachable anytime, day and night, and will send you regular updates so you don’t miss them too much. Did I also happen to mention that I make the best liver cake dog treats?

A typical day

I love going on the local trails and parks. These areas are great for dogs since there are plenty of smells that dogs get excited about. I’m not on a schedule when I’m with a dog. I figure out what they need and what they want and I do my best to deliver. Some pups are not as social or active, and would prefer quiet time indoors. Some pups needs to be tired out with lots of stimuli and exercise. Whatever your dog needs, I will provide them with the best possible care and attention.
