Pet care experience
I am a dog person! I connect with them where they're at and give them the space and patience to come out of their shells. Whether your dog is playful or calm, shy or gregarious, I'm looking forward to meeting them! I'm comfortable working on any training you're doing at home and will respect/maintain routines while they're in my care. I have experience dog sitting puppies, young dogs as well as seniors. I'm currently working from home so your pet will only be left alone when I step out to run errands. I have a quiet home and my social interactions usually involve a friend or two coming over to play boardgames, walks and time outdoors. If your dog is up for it, they will join me on these kinds of outings (provided the weather is good and they are comfortable meeting new people). Before pet sitting I will ask lots of questions about your dog's personality! How are they on leash? Do they resource guard? What can I do to help them settle in when they arrive? What are their favourite treats/games? How do they react to meeting other dogs or people on walks? This is for their safety and mine... and it helps us connect in a positive way. Being honest and transparent about your dog's needs allows me to lead in a way that ensures everyone's well being, and will give you peace of mind while you're away. Please be prepared to send me a copy of your dog's vaccination documents as part of our meet and greet :)

If they need to be crated or do best with a dedicated quiet space during the day that's something we will discuss and set up ahead of their stay. Meet and Greets will be scheduled before any boarding so that we can discuss your dog's stay and how I can meet their needs. Please note that if you would like me to take your dog to an offleash park I will need copies of their vaccine records.

A typical day
There is an off leash dog park across the street. If your dog is accustomed to off leash parks and it's something we agree on, this is a fun option! Otherwise there are lovely walking options along the rideau canal, on the grounds of the museum of nature, and several parks in the Glebe.

I work from home and like to take lots of walks when dog sitting. Morning, lunch hour, after work and again in the evening :) If your dog does well on bigger walks I would love to take them with me when I walk along the canal, around parliament or on other routes in the area.
