I'm often asked: "so why did you start doing this?" I'm a dog dad and I've been in the position of running around trying to find someone I trust to watch my own pup - it's stressful, I get it! I started using Rover myself years back to find someone to watch Nala while on work trips/vacations. I just wanted piece of mind that my pup is safe and happy and has plenty of comfy spaces to rest. After 15+ years of volunteering at vet clinics, providing doggy boarding services, and being a proud dog owner myself, I have the flexibility to watch another dog while working full-time from home and Nala would love a friend to play in the backyard with! Right now I only take 1 dog at a time so there are a maximum of 2 dogs at my home (Nala is SUPER friendly and submissive. She reads cues from dogs very well and will give space if that’s what your pup asks. If they like to play, Nala is almost 7 and still full of energy. She also gives verbal and non verbal cues of play she does not enjoy, but will not escalate anything past a few barks) A bit about myself - I moved to Charlotte after graduating from App State in 2014, I've been here for 9 years and purchased a home in 2022. If the dogs are in the backyard, I'm in the backyard on the deck or playing with them. They will never be left alone! If your dog wants to play, Nala is always up for making new friends. And if your dog prefers to lounge around, no worries - there are plenty of comfy beds and furniture for them to relax on. So why do I only take 1 dog at a time? I have a full-time job, I do this to enable Nala to have someone to play with and to actually make use of this giant backyard. I've watched more dogs at once in the past but right now I'd like to give your furry friend all my attention! Other frequently asked questions and important information: How is Nala with other dogs? She is super submissive and very friendly. I've noticed she tends to be more comfortable around male dogs but in general, loves everyone. 100% of the time I will ask for a meet and greet prior to booking any boarding/daycare. Do I allow dogs on furniture? Yes all pets are allowed on the couches and human beds. If you prefer your dog to not be on furniture and want to follow rules, I have multiple super comfy dog beds all throughout the house (and a huge beanbag that all dogs LOVE). How do I feed dogs? I feed Nala twice a day and will keep your dog separated during feeding time to avoid any issues. Will you walk my dog? Yes your dog will be walked! Nala and I average about 10k steps a day, so if your dog is an avid walker they will love it here! If they prefer to not walk, no problem we will just hang out in the backyard or inside Do I leave the house often? No, I work from home full time and on the weekends I may run a short errand. What do I need to bring with me? Leash & Collar or Harness Food and any specific medicine or treats for your dog You're more than welcome to bring blankets or toys that your dogs like, I have plenty of blankets and tennis balls and other toys here! Will you send me pictures and updates? Absolutely. I'll probably end up bugging you with pictures :)
