Pet care experience
In addition to my Monday-to-Friday day job close to downtown Winnipeg, I also work remotely as a voice actor, I produce radio commercials, MC, host online events, sing in vocal groups, and try to get some volunteering in whenever I can. I don't drink alcohol (which means I won't drink YOUR alcohol), I don't smoke, I don't party, no drugs, so yes I am just the right kind of boring to take care of your house and animals. I DO love to pet and scratch any critters who like that sort of thing (looking at you, dogs, and some of you cats too). I'm based in Winnipeg. If you are not near or in Winnipeg, and you're seeing my profile in your search results, it may be because I am hoping or planning to travel to your area, or I may already be there. How far away we are from each other will determine if a meet-and-greet would be in person or virtual (I prefer in person, of course, since pets have terrible Zoom etiquette). Why I want to house sit: When people have had me look after their critters and houses, upon their return they have consistently been so happy to let others know they finally found "a good one", and always ask for me again for their next planned absences. I absolutely love having animals around when I am working or playing. Work is that much more pleasant in the company of animal friends, and in varied settings. Though some owners have encouraged the use of their space for social activities, I am instead one of those house-and-pet sitters who enjoys the serenity of being with just the animals and the quiet. I don't have guests over at your home. My Experience: I've been house and pet sitting since the late 90s, for owners mostly in Canada (Vancouver, Toronto, Winnipeg, Whitehorse), Barbados, and more recently in southern California. I've looked after simple set ups with one house and one dog, and complex ones with 4 dogs, 3 cats, 2 houses, and 1 hour commute between them (and two of the dogs were on medication). I've done week-long stints, and I've done live-in gigs of 3 years. When needed I've taken critters to the vet, to the airport, to the parade, to the office, to the countryside, and plenty more. I've worked with wood stoves, with cottages mostly off the grid, and apartments and condos in high density populations. I'm no stranger to injecting diabetic cats with insulin, administering glucosamine sulfate to more "experienced" dogs, using white bread or cheese or peanut butter to make medicine appealing, and cooking the occasional batch of rice to help doggy tummies feel better. I like what I do, and the pets and owners do too! Please note: I always insist on a meet and greet with new clients before committing to a sit, so it's unlikely I will be able to accommodate same-day requests from new clients.
Reviews
Always a great experience with RP.
RP was very communicative, reliable and trustworthy. We felt at ease with him caring for our dog and our home. One of the immediate things that we noted was the high number of positive references. He absolutely lived up to his reputation and we will definitely re-book with him when we take our next journey. I highly recommend him.
RP does a fabulous job of cat and house sitting. He is always so accommodating and we truly appreciate his care of our cat. We are so thankful we have him to rely on when we're away.
This was our second time using Rp! He is fantastic and I would recommend his services to anyone. We came home to a clean house and most importantly happy dogs! We will be booking him in the future, as long as he is available, he’s very popular! Thank you Rp. Eugene, Rosie and Stella miss you already!

During the meet-and-greet is when I establish with the owner(s) what their pet routines are, and endeavour to replicate them exactly, so that the pets experience as little disruption as possible.
Information Rp S. would like to know about your pet
No preference when it comes to breeds, in my universe all dogs are cute. I usually like to have a handle on the dogs' feeding and walking schedule, as well as any medical regime. I usually ask if they've ever escaped / run away before, and where and how they were found. Also on my question list is if there have ever been poop or pee accidents in the house, and how those were handled and should be handled if it happens again. I make sure there is current info for the animals' vet(s), if there are neighbourhood animals that are friends and playmates with your animal(s).
A typical day
If the dog is a walked dog (I've stayed in some places where they aren't), ideally I'd like to take them on routes they already know, as dogs tend to love routines. I've been told I tend to give dogs more attention than most humans do - but the dogs don't complain... In the morning I usually reserve the first 15 mins after the alarm rings to petting and scratching any dogs or cats within arm's reach.

Availability
Apart from my daytime week-day work commitments, I adapt my schedule to the pets' and property's needs. When I sit I typically remain at the pets' house whenever I am not at my day job, and only leave if absolutely necessary, and no longer than whatever duration has been approved by the owner(s).
