A lifetime of caring for animals!

Pet care experience

I grew up in a household with dogs and cats and knew I wanted to work with animals when I grew up. After college I worked for 6.5 years at Animal Care and Control in Mecklenburg County. While I enjoyed the job, I knew I wanted to do something more hands-on and technical, so during my time at ACC I obtained my Associates in Veterinary Technology. I have worked in multiple small animal hospitals and spay & neuter clinics during my 8 years in the field and enjoyed every minute of it. In addition to jobs in the animal field I have volunteered with several groups working with wildlife and exotic animals.

Drew has watched my cats on several occasions. He is kind, compassionate and a calm presence around my cats. He's very conscientious about making sure my 2 diabetic cats get their insulin and meals on time. He takes time to play with the cats and they are all very comfortable around him. He always reaches out if any questions come up. He also thoroughly cleans up any messes the cats make and everything looks great when I return home. I know that my cats are in good hands and I can go out of town without any worries.

Roy has been extraordinary with my animals. Always kind and loving toward them all. Leaves my animals areas clean, and food/water bowls clean and full. I leave notes as to what needs to be done and it’s always done without exception. I would recommend him to anyone looking for short or long term care for their animals.

My cat, Sake, is very choosy regarding humans she trusts. Drew quickly became one of those humans due to his gentle nature and animal knowledge, so I am comfortable with him checking in on her while I'm away. Drews' experience as a vet tech sets him above most pet sitters. Sake gives him two paws up.

I love working with both cats and dogs (we have over a dozen of our own) but definitely consider myself a cat person. With my flexible schedule I can drop in to scoop litter, provide food and water, and clean up any messes. In addition I have the time to stay for longer visits in order to bond with your pets through play or just letting them sit with me for petting, chin scratches, or other enrichment activities.

Information Roy S. would like to know about your pet

Knowing a pet's medical or behavioral issues is always a must. It’s also good to know a pet's dietary restrictions, what enrichment activities the pet likes, phobias (thunder storms, fire works, etc,) and who their vet is in case any medical emergencies arise.

A typical day

Anything from fetch in the backyard, to neighborhood walks where they get to smell all the neighborhood "news." In addition I have experience with a wide range of enrichment activities for dogs and cats from my work in the veterinary field and with my own pets.
