WFH Couple Lots of Love & Exercise

Pet care experience

Hello! My name is Roxanne. My husband and I are recent California transplants getting back into Rover at our new place in Holy Cross. We both predominately work from home and are looking to open it to friendly pets for a little cash on the side. We have a fully-fenced, double lot house close to the river walk. We live with our goofy 9-year-old Weirmardoodle but no other pets or children. I grew up on a farm, so it feels very natural to be around animals. As a city-ish adult, I really enjoy hosting dogs of all kinds. It keeps me from adopting all the fur babies I definitely would left to my own devices ; ) My pup and I have done almost everything together. We like running, hiking, camping, and road trips -We've even traveled 5,000 through Mexico together. She's been on boats, trains, and airplanes. Now we live in our dreamy little shotgun and enjoy walks along the Mississippi or over to Bywater. If appropriate for their health, your pup will get at least one walk or run everyday and have potty access nearly all the time. If their speed is more hanging out in a bed or lap in an air conditioned room, we provide that too. Our dog is a big gentle soul, and great to practice social skills, but please no aggressive animals. We very much believe that calm, happy pups understand boundaries and thrive with consistency. Let us know if there is anything you are working on. Thanks for checking us out! Roxanne, Reese & Laika Why I love dog sitting My earliest memory is sitting in a highchair eating Cheerios, while Smokey the family Australian Shepard, snatched the tiny socks from my feet. This was one of his favorite games. Smokey went on to sire many more spotted, blue-eyed pups, which my mother sold as working dogs. At any time we had 3-10 dogs and puppies herding around anything that moved. The first dog I "raised" was a spunky little Yorky named Gambit, whom passed away after 16 years of a hearty life. I took him everywhere, including several backpacking excursions and a road trip through Mexico. I didn't know heartbreak until the day I buried him in-between the roots of an old tree. After several years of foster-parenting housemate and family dogs, I was ready to adopt. About 9 years ago, I found Laika. She is everything I wanted in a dog. Sporty and playful, but incredibly gentle; she gets along with everyone, human and canine alike. It's hard to believe that someone didn't want her, but I feel blessed by the way things turned out. Meet my pets We have a super sweet older Weimardoodle. About my yard I have a good-sized, fully-fenced, secure back yard.

Roxanne and husband were fantastic with my fur baby Charlie! I could immediately tell they were going to take care of him the way that I would. I received daily pics and updates. I'd highly recommend!

Our pup was well taken care of while in the care of Roxanne and her husband. We are traveling through the area and were so happy to find them on Rover. This allowed us to enjoy our time in New Orleans and our Archie got to enjoy his time laying in the grass and soaking up the sun rays. Would definitely rebook with Roxanne if we return to New Orleans.

I couldn’t be happier with the care my puppy received! It was our first time leaving him with a sitter and I was nervous, but Roxanne put me at ease with their updates and genuine love for our fur baby! I would highly recommend to anyone!

We have a fully fenced yard and a dog door, so your pup will have potty access all the time. If the dog door is scary or there is a mobility issue, we are happy to be the butler and let everyone in and out as needed. We are casual about pups on furniture etc., and will respect your training if you prefer they don’t form that habit. Same goes for sleep routine: they can pile in the bed with us or use their own bed or crate -we’ll accommodate your routine. Feel free to bring whatever they need to be comfortable including giant dog beds. We don’t ever crate animals without being asked and follow your instructions when we do. We have a large crate we can set up if needed.

Information Roxanne M. would like to know about your pet

Our main rule is non-violence. Our dog is the most important thing to us so we cannot accommodate dogs with any history of aggressive behavior. We also ask that guests are potty trained and free of destructive habits. They need to be trained on a leash (or gentle leader, harness, whatever you use) and be comfortable riding in the car. If you have a puppy who is still learning, we’ll make a plan to support. They must wear a collar at all times and have a tag with contact information. I request permission to bathe them if they roll in something smelly, so they cannot have a history of biting groomers. Guests must be current on all vaccinations and pet owners must provide emergency contact and vet information. Pet owners provide everything their pet needs to be comfortable in our home: Food, toys, a leash, a bed, and any medications or grooming products.

A typical day

We walk everyday along the levee in our neighborhood or up to Bywater depending on how much exercise is appropriate. We also like to go to the Chalmette Battlefield, Bayou Savage, and the secret dog beach. Let us know if your dog is able to be off-leash.

Availability

My husband and I are both self employed working predominantly from home. We make our own schedules, so between the two of us there is nearly always someone home. Meet and greets, pickups, and drop offs are super flexible. On the weekends, we are either working on some project around around the house or exploring NOLA. Our favorite spots are dog friendly and we often have a few in tow.
