Grad Student w/ Flexible Schedule!

Pet care experience

Hi! I’m Rosie, and I’m an absolute dog fanatic. I am currently the very proud puppy parent to a lovely three-year-old Poodle named Champuli. I believe that dogs are some of the most amazing creatures around, and that it’s my duty to bring as much puppy happiness into the world as possible. I have extensive experience with dogs, and just love to make them feel right at home whenever possible. I also adore cats and have significant cat care experience, including kitten care. I especially enjoy playing with cats when they are interested, but am also happy to be a warm lap or just a supportive presence if that’s what’s needed while you are away. One of the best parts about me as a sitter is my flexible schedule! I am writing my PhD dissertation in Education at the moment, which means that I spend a good amount of time researching and writing from home. That leaves me with a lot of flexibility to work around busy schedules, and also gives me lots of opportunities for quality time with your pup or cat! I know that few of us want to stick our pups in a kennel when we leave, so I’m happy to spend as much time as possible with your pooch. I have lived with and helped to care for lots of different animals in the past, primarily both cats and dogs. I have volunteered in the past with the Oxford-Lafayette Humane Society in Oxford, Mississippi. I have also completed Red Cross training in Dog and Cat First Aid (as well as being trained in human CPR and First Aid). I have been dog walking and pet sitting since 2010 and it’s a lot of fun! I want to get back into sitting more often because I just love being around animals so much! During a booking, I make sure that I keep pet parents updated on what’s happening with their dogs and cats. I know the stress of being away from your pup, so I’m here to make that time as easy as possible! I like to send photos and videos, and keep close watch on everything. I’m also happy to stick to your pooch’s regimens that they have at home. I know that dogs are creatures of habit, so adhering to what they’re already used to is no problem for me at all!

Rosie was prompt, communicative, and professional per usual—and patient and prepared with our newly expanded pack, which now includes one handful of a puppy! She even went the extra mile to make sure she had clean shoes to change into to reduce parvo risk. Will book again!

A typical day

There are tons of great things to do around my neighborhood, so we’ll have no problem sniffing new adventures out! My favorite part of my neighborhood is a nearby park, which has lots of interesting smells. I also love taking my dog on various dog-friendly trails for canicross outings.

Availability

I am working on my dissertation, which can be done remotely. I also work as a teaching assistant on Fridays during the academic year, so typically do not accept overnight clients for Wednesday or Thursday nights to ensure I have time to prepare, though this can be negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
