Pet care experience
Hello I'm Rory and I love critters and people. I am currently in school for veterinary nursing and I have 20 years of experience in rescue. I have worked with everything from hedgehogs to horses. I really love animals and believe they save people, so helping animals makes the world a better place for all of us. As a nursing student I not only walk the dogs, but also keep an eye on their overall health and monitor them for any signs of potential health issues. I enjoy getting to know each and every dog and I think of them as little furry people. I received my animal first aid and CPR certification in November 2017. I'm so excited to meet you and your doggy(s).

Rory is wonderful, she treats my dogs as if they were her own. She saved my Beagle, Baily, from dying due to an accidental poisoning. Baily ate a bunch of seed packs that I had gotten for my garden and Rory realized there were castor beans among them, which are very toxic. She advised me to induce vomiting and call poison control immediately. We had a very scary week and he had to be hospitalized for a few days but he survived. She keeps a close eye on her doggie friends health and lets me know if they get diarrhea or have runny eyes. It's great to catch small health issues like that before they become big health issues. And she really loves the dogs, calls her walks a daily dose of doggie and says it is as therapeutic for her as it is for the dogs.

I love all different breeds and have worked with everything from a teacup chihuahua to a Great Dane. I love to learn each dog's personality, they all have unique little quirks just like us and what is normal for one, may not be normal for the next so it is really important to treat each one as the special individual that they are.
A typical day
It really depends on the dog and what their human wants. I have one little chichahua mix that I have been working with and she used to HATE going on walks, jumped at every noise and would stubbornly refuse to go any further. She would barely be outside three minutes and would want to go back in. I have encouraged her and worked with her and now she doesn't want her walks to end, she is quite the little adventurer (well unless it's raining). Her human mom says that she is such a different dog than she was before I started. It has been so wonderful to see her become so confident and unlike many chihuahuas that get a little chubby, she's absolutely perfect.
