Professional Pet Lover For Hire!

Pet care experience

About Me: Hello! I am a resident of Winchester, VA, and I have many years of experience with cats, dogs and other domesticated animals of all ages, shapes and sizes, and am ready to put my passion and dedication for animal care to work! I've worked with local animal rescue groups to foster cats/dogs, at a veterinary hospital, at an educational wildlife center, as a pet sitter, at a Big Cat Rescue and Sanctuary with tigers, lions, jaguars, and many other species of wild cats, and at World Wildlife Fund, the leading organization in wildlife conservation and endangered species. I snuggle with pets that crave affection and play with pets that have endless amounts of energy, but am also comfortable caring for pets that need their owners/handlers to take on a little more of an alpha role. To see an example of what a normal day of "house call" services would be like, please see my extended profile. I am also able to provide in-house pet-sitting if your pets (or you) would prefer someone to keep them company all night. To check-out my in-home pet-sitting rates, view the "other services" tab in my profile. Please contact me if you have any questions about my services or if you are interested in meeting me. I look forward to hearing from you! - Robin B. P.S. To put a face with my name, visit my facebook profile at fb dot com slash robinmbrugger. ;) Why I love dog sitting: I have been a dog lover since age 2 when my mother brought home our first family dog. I followed him around everywhere and studied his every move (I was clearly a future wildlife professional in training!). Meet my pets: One adult cat who keeps to herself and one young cat who loves to play! They both get along with dogs. My experience administering medication: I have many years of experience administering medications via oral, topical, ocular and subcutaneous methods.

I can't say enough great things about Robin! She exceeded my expectations. She was available on short notice to care for my three cats, one of whom is special needs and requires eye medication. Robin not only followed all my instructions and was able to easily administer his eye medication appropriately, but she even went above and beyond to provide me with updates on my cats while I was away and even took the trash out! It's so nice to be able to rely on a nice and trustworthy person.

Thanks to Robin, we had a great long weekend away without our dogs - not a norm for us for many years. With an overactive setter and a springer with health concerns when he is stressed, travel has mainly been possible if we travel together. Robin did a great job easing our concerns, and we returned from a wonderful weekend to find the dogs not only happy, but extremely relaxed. It meant even more to us that she was willing, during some extremely hot days, to balance our active crew (plus a cat and a parrot) in our own home while pregnant! We are grateful and would definitely call on her again.

Robin is absolutely wonderful!! She is dependable, extremely competent, caring and was very attentive to our 14yr old daschund Diamond (who is blind). We have never been really comfortable leaving our baby but we have found someone in Robin who we can trust 100%. She stayed overnight at our house so Diamond would be more relaxed in her familiar environment. We would absolutely recommend Robin to anyone and would definitely use her again!!

Information Robin B. would like to know about your pet

To really get to know a dog, I will need to spend some time observing his/her routine and habits. It doesn't take long to understand the personality of a dog if you take the time to properly socialize.

A typical day

Here's where we'll take our walks I live in small, safe neighborhood with sidewalks and streetlights. There is a nearby school with plenty of fenced-in room to run (a baseball field) and lots of fire hydrants to sniff along the way! Your dog's sleeping arrangement Your dog(s) will have the option of sleeping wherever he/she pleases! Time I'll spend with your dog A normal day of petcare (your place or mine) would go like this: - Morning Visit (30 minutes): Say a quick hello and find out how the evening went, and then depart for a 15-20 min walk. Once we return, it's breakfast time! While your pet(s) enjoy their breakfast, I will refill their water, fluff up their bed, and take care of any household tasks (e.g. bring in the paper, tune the radio to a preferred station, etc.). If your pup didn't go #2 on the first walk, we'll hit the street for another go. Then we will say our goodbyes until the next visit. - Daytime Visit (20 minutes, only available to residents within 5 miles of downtown DC): daytime visits consist of a 10-15 min. walk and 5 min. of social time. - Evening Visit (60 minutes): Similar to the morning visit, but twice as long! This visit will have a longer walk, more playtime, and at least 15 min. of downtime for your pet to choose how he/she would like to spend it. Maybe a quick round of fetch? Or a tug-of-war match? Or a quick snuggle and brushing? I'm happy to modify the schedule if, let's say, you normally go for a longer walk in the morning or if your dog only eats one meal in the evening. I'll try to simulate your normal routine as much as possible. This will help to avoid separation anxiety or destructive behaviors.
