Hi! My name is Rita and I love dogs. I’m currently on the path to become a veterinarian. I am first aid and CPR certified. I will be majoring in animal behavior. When I was studying abroad in Portugal, I volunteered at an organization called Sociedade Protectora dos Animais. The organization has a bunch of small rescues in Lisbon in which I work. I have been working with an abandoned dog called Pilot with severe separation anxiety and kidney problems. I have spent many hours with him calming him down and experimenting with ways to make him less nervous. I have found that music works! It can help with overstimulation and it got him to play with his toys after four months of just crying and barking. I hope I can experience that kind of sentimental reward with other dogs!
