Pet care experience
I love hanging out with animals. In the past, I've cared for/lived with cats, guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas, and cockatiels. My dog experience comes primarily from dog-sitting for friends and relatives and volunteering at adoption shelters (like PAWS in Chicago).

Risa did a wonderful job taking care of my two males cats. It was evident she gave them a lot of thoughtful care and attention, and that they loved playing with her. I’m super grateful that she took note of their individual quirks and gave them both what they needed. Highly recommend!
Risa was great! She was super responsive, courteous, and saw that my pup got his dinner and a walk while I was at a work event. I will definitely reach back out for future drop-in visits!

For drop-in visits, I like to meet with you in advance where it's possible to make sure I know where things are and get instructions for how to care for your pet. For dog boarding, my neighborhood is mostly residential with parks, quiet streets, and many friendly neighbor dogs! Your fluffy family member will have ample exercise and snuggles. S/he is ideally housebroken. I don't have any other dogs and don't host more than one (family) at a time.

Let me know your pet's likes and dislikes and anything to keep an eye on. I have experience with pets with special needs/chronic illnesses so I want you to be able to travel without (too much) concern! Other basics: - diet preferences/restrictions and feeding schedules - favorite activities and toys - behavior concerns (do they run for the door?) - bathroom routines - medical needs and vet info (just in case)
A typical day
I watched a LOT of It's Me or the Dog so I know regular walking and always being positive with dogs is very important. I like to go to Winnemac or Horner Parks for longer walks.

Availability
I'm not a full-time pet-sitter, so I don't do longer stays (7+ days) or open-ended visit schedules, but I am fairly flexible during the week. Most available mid-day to evening (11am to ~6pm) and usually unavailable early morning and late night (7am to 10am, 8pm and later). My area of service is limited by where I can get to easily without a car, so I may have to decline requests outside of my service area.
