A lover of creatures big n small <3

Pet care experience

<I’m fully vaccinated> Hello :) I've tended animals of others and my own for years. I have experience in tending small animals, fish, birds, reptiles, and various other animals. I have basic veterinary skills and can administer medicine, shots, or iv. I had a pit variety dog as a child and love all dogs, no matter of breed. I'm a lover of most living creatures including spiders and insects. I have impeccable character and get along with most animals. Kitties are super special and I speak cat well, meow! I enjoy dogs of all breeds and will tend yours as if they were my own pup. I'm able to feed your reptiles and other animals and have quite a bit of experience with various types. My additional cat price is $5. If you have a dog and a cat, you pay the main pet fee (whichever is higher) and just $5 for additional pets. Feel free to message me ahead of booking to discuss charges. I’m able to adjust the fees before accepting within Rover :) Distance for care: For dog walks or drop-ins: within 15 miles of S Salem, OR. For house/pet sitting: Very negotiable. I’m willing to travel within a couple hundred miles of S Sale to tend pets, even to another state. For longer distances, I would prefer a two night request. Msg me and we can discuss the possibilities :) I love to travel. It would be a pleasure to meet your furry feathered or scaled family members :)

Riki did an amazing job checking in on our cat olliver and kept him company while we were gone. Our normally shy at first cat made friends with her as soon as they first met.

When my senior Aussie was expelled from his long-time day care/boarding kennel, I was told about Rover as a possible resource. I found Riki, booked her for several drop-in visits when I needed to be out of town all day, and have booked her again for a three night house-sitting job. We met ahead of time, and I liked what she had to say about her work and especially how my dogs responded to her. She showed up on time on the days I was gone and responded quickly to any messages I sent. I am happy to have found her.

Safety, trust & environment

When I visit client’s homes, I try to mimic what the owners do so the pet has the same experience lessening stress on them while their human is away. I am vigilant for escapees, even if the owner doesn’t report they may try. I’m also careful for safety of the animal while there. We all get in a hurry and if something a dog may chew is in mouth distance, I may put up and away to prevent any situations. I go slow with animals, at their pace, for petting and play.

Information Riki Y. would like to know about your pet

I would like to be aware of any aggressive behavior or any ways the animal doesn't want to be touched or sounds to avoid. I also prefer to have their vets information and the chosen emergency vets information in case anything happens while in my care.

A typical day

This question focuses on dogs however I’m a sitter of many pets and do things differently depending on the pet. For dogs, I follow the owners way to feed them. Some have to sit, shake, eat away from each other, etc. I usually will greet the dog as well and if they don’t have a doggie door, let them outside first thing. After getting them fed, a little play time and lastly, go outside again and be sure they go big potty if that’s their norm. For kitties, I greet them or find them and say hi. Usually just with words so they know I’m here and they’re welcome to come say hi or meet them where they are if that’s their norm. I take cues from the animal itself and recall what the owner has relayed to develop the best day for the pet.
