Flexible Professional Pet Sitter

Pet care experience

Hi, my name is Ricky and it's totally cool if your buddy crashes with me for a few days! Before making a home in Savannah, I owned Ready Pet Go, a 300 client Professional Pet Sitting and Daily Dog Walking company in Northern Virginia. After moving to Savannah 10 years ago and pursuing a passion for good food and drink I've decided to embark on a new adventure. Part of that decision was losing my best friend of 15 years when Cooper crossed the rainbow bridge. Cooper was a sweet and regal Chow-Shiba mix who kept me steady through the ups and downs almost half my adult life. He truly was my rock, and the best friend anyone could ever want. I'm sure you can relate. I haven't felt ready to find another pet, but even Cooper would agree it's time to get back in the water. I was also thinking of getting a human roommate but figured dogs are usually cooler than people (no offense), so why not try Rover? I specialized in multi-dog households and rescues. The unique perspective of specializing in "packs" helped me speak dog and better understand their behaviors. From prior experience, I understand this service is more than just hanging out with your pet for a few days. The process and details are extremely important in providing your pets, yourself and your family with the best possible experience. * We'll fill out a fun and easy intake questionnaire to learn your pet's personality, habits, traits, and routine. I like to keep their routine as familiar as possible regarding meal times, walk times, treat times and of course, cuddle times. * Together, we'll develop an emergency plan, just in case. I'll gather information for your vet, preferred emergency clinic and any local emergency contacts. * I follow strict ingress and egress procedures for the home and yard to minimize any opportunity for them to go rogue. * Any walk or outdoor play session is without headphones, I will not be on my cell phone unless I'm taking photos for updates. I want to ensure I'm always aware of our surroundings (joggers, other dogs, kids on bicycles, wildlife). * I will use the leash you provide so I don't introduce walk habits you may not like. * If I can't walk barefoot on the pavement, your pup won't be forced to either. * If your dog likes car rides, and with your consent, during daycare, boarding or overnight services I can take them along while running errands or take them around the corner to Skidaway State Park. The A/C will always be on, they will be secure in the vehicle and will not sit unattended in my vehicle for longer than 5 minutes. The outdoor temperature would also need to be in a safe range. * I'll follow the same "house rules" you use at home. If they're not allowed on the furniture then they won't be in mine. * I will never take on another boarding service without your consent. And if you do consent, your buddy will have to approve as well. * Any group boarding or doggy daycare would need to follow similar house rules. Just like kids, our best friends are susceptible to peer pressure too! * I am happy to provide meal prep and handle most medications. * Regular staycation updates or visit journals will be provided for updates and peace of mind. For dog walking, drop-in visits or overnight stays, I have separate questionnaires that cover your home, your neighbors, neighborhood dogs and area wildlife. I'll also bring in your mail and packages, turn your lights on/off based on the daylight, rotate blinds and bring up your garbage bin. This helps the home appear occupied. I also really enjoy cats and other types of pets and am happy to discuss pet sit (drop-in) visits at your home as well. I require a minimum of two visits per day for dogs (and really recommend three). Cats are often just fine with one visit a day unless they're very social. In that case, a minimum of two visits a day is required. I'm pretty selfie averse (feel free to verify that on my Facebook profile), I much prefer to be behind the lens. In my gallery, you will see me get up close and personal with the portraits I've taken of my pet friends, previous pet roommates and clients. I've also included pictures of my house and yard for boarding or daycare services. I fully understand how important your pet's safety and wellbeing is to you and your family. I hope to have an opportunity to provide companionship for your buddy and peace of mind for you and your family.

I have known Ricky for over 25 years. For several of those years he ran a successful pet sitting business. His meticulous attention to detail and pro active style ensured both satisfied clients and very happy pets. As a result, Ricky has extensive experience in both navigating through and adhering to, the demands and changing needs of his clients and their pets. In addition, Ricky has owned several dogs himself. Most recently, Cooper whom was suffering from a myriad of ailments in his old age, including arthritis that gave Cooper not only horrible trouble not only walking but even pivoting and moving. After tireless research, Ricky concocted and administered medicines and natural remedies that alleviated his symptoms dramatically. I witnessed this first hand and the difference in Cooper was astonishing. Cooper is no longer with us but I am convinced that Ricky's persistence and diligence improved Cooper's comfort and quality of life as well as extended it. If that's not an example of a responsible and loving dog caregiver, then there isn't one...

Ricky and I have known each other close to ten years. He is a great friend, and loved his for baby, till he passed. He went the extra mile for his baby, and I know he would for yours. He is kind and compassionate, towards humans and animals. I would trust him with my baby in a second.

Information Ricky S. would like to know about your pet

I don't have any breed preferences. I specialized in caring for clients with a full dog "pack" of 2 or more dogs as well as timid rescue and shelter dogs. I have cared for Yorkies, Pugs, Great Danes, Rotwiellers, Beagles, Greyhounds, English Bulldogs, American Eskimo Dogs, Huskys, Boston Terriers, Golden's, English Setters, Chows, GSD German Shepherd Dogs, Shiba Inu's, Labs and Pittie Mixes. I have even met a pair of ultra-rare New Guinea Singing Dogs once. My intake form will cover everything about your dog from their basic personality, to quirks, routines, past experience with pet sitters, dog walkers or boarding. I'll want to know if your pet is aggressive towards vacuum cleaners. Do they dislike loud music? How averse are they to going potty in the rain? What is their regular treat schedule? Do they have allergies? Is there anything that "spooks" them? What calms them during a thunderstorm? I would also like to go over any incidents of aggression or triggers for aggression or anxiety. I do require all my clients to be up to date on their shots and current with flea and heartworm medication.

A typical day

The main area for walks would be in my quiet neighborhood away from major roads with minimal vehicle traffic. I also have a large fenced back yard for exercise and play time. Your buddy will never be left out in the yard unsupervised. Excursions to Skidaway State Park, running errands or dining alfresco is in the cards, as long as you consent (as detailed above) and they travel well. There will also be Netflix and chill time, as well as an opportunity for them to "supervise" me cook in the kitchen. As a procedure, I do not feed table scraps to my clients. They will, however, receive any authorized treats they are used to getting at home.
