Richard is a graduate of the Karen Prior Academy, earning certifications in both Dog Trainer Professional and Puppy Start Right for Instructors, making him a Karen Pryor certified training partner. He is also a qualified AKC Canine Good Citizen evaluator and a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers. He is committed to continuing his professional development by attending conferences and seminars throughout the year and staying current on positive techniques in his field. In the unregulated pet training industry, it is important to look for trainers that have dedicated themselves to continuing their professional education in the best possible settings. After a three month internship with Diamonds In The Ruff, in Spokane, Washington, Richard has stayed on as an instructor. He assists with group and specialty classes such as the AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Program. He is also available for private consultation and training to address specific needs of individuals. Educating pet owners, handlers, and trainers on proven positive training methods, backed by scientific research, helps them create a successful environment for animals and their owners. The goal is always to strengthen the bond between pet and owner in a positive way. Richard has four dogs of his own, two Belgian Malinois, a Labrador and a Chihuahua. He has served our country for twelve years in the Marine Corps, and is a Purple Heart recipient. He is currently working on creating his own brand of “Clicker Culture” to provide positive training solutions to the public. He is well known for his gentle hand and heart for those on both ends of the leash.
