Love dogs, enjoy walking.

Pet care experience

I have had dogs most of my life and now dog sit for family members. I have a fenced garden and easy access to the South Downs. I am recently retired, with lots of time on my hands, and would enjoy a dog to accompany me on my walks.

Richard was amazing from our very first contact right through to our final pickup! He clearly understands dogs and all their different quirks and he wasn’t phased by taking on Murphy, who is not used to being away from us for long periods of time! Richard kept us up to date throughout our holiday, which we really appreciated and which helped us to relax into our holiday! We can tell Richard took such great care of Murphy as he was so relaxed and happy when we picked him up! Murphy was so happy to see us but after his initial excitement he ran back into Richard’s front room and hopped up on the arm chair, which shows he was more than comfortable in Richard’s house. We brought home a very happy dog! Thank you Richard for having Murphy and allowing us to have a worry free holiday! We hope Murphy can come stay with you again!

Richard looked after our 5 month old puppy, Peggy, for 6 days, which was her first time away from home. Communication up to us leaving Peggy, and whilst we was away, was excellent and Richard kept us fully updated on all aspects of her stay. There were a few minor circumstances as Peggy is still in training so does not have recall, is still learning commands, has the odd accident and was in a completely new environment, all of which can be a handful on a daily basis. She is an extremely excitable, active and stopping Jack Russell, with a beautiful character, so we appreciate the time and energy Richard took in looking after her, which is both time and energy consuming. She has come home and settled into her daily routine and seems to be very happy.

Information Richard C. would like to know about your pet

All dogs are different, and some have special needs, like an allergy to certain foods or plants, other can have social or behavioral needs and can not interact with other dogs and can not be let off the lead.

A typical day

There are lots of dog owners in Lewes, we would take the dogs walking around the Lewes Priory ruins and the convent fields nearby, there can be as many as 10 dogs at one time. In my experience all dogs like chasing and fetching balls or sticks. We would also go for walks at the back of the brooks, open fields where it is a bit more overgrown.Or up the South Downs, plenty of space to run around.
