Pet care experience

I'm a friendly and empathetic lover of all creatures, big and small, young and old. Having always lived side-by-side with animals, I know pets to be family. So I understand how important it is that your family member is cared for properly, based on their own unique needs. If your sensitive pet needs care while you're away, look no further. I'm all about building trust with a soft voice and a gentle hand. Having worked in veterinary clinics, I have experience handling stressed dogs and cats. Some friends are delicate flowers who take some time to feel safe, others are perfectly happy to just be near another's company. Does your dog needs an exercise outlet? I got you. I'm an athletic spirit, big on hikes, long walks to the park and endless games of fetch. I'm a firm believer that a happy dog is a tired dog. An active dog snoozing contentedly after a long walk is the emblem of the benefits of a well-balanced lifestyle. Among the most common sources of distress in our dogs is that lack of adequate regular stimulation. I want to reach out to anybody seeking more ways to give their dogs stimulating experiences through exercise, socialization and play amidst the sights and smells of Berkeley! As a kid, I was dedicated to learning all of the dog breeds, and I'm still dropping dog breed facts to this day. In addition to taking care of pets my entire life, I have worked at multiple veterinary clinics and have since cultivated a special interest in animal behavior, nutrition, and general health. Please don't hesitate to message me! I am very flexible and happy to work with your schedule.

Information Ria M. would like to know about your pet

To determine where we would go, I'd like to know if the dog is at all reactive, suspicious or fearful of new dogs, people, or other things. How are they with other dogs and people? Do they like going to the park? Are you okay with your dog being off-leash at a fenced-in park? Are they at all possessive of toys? I'd like to know about the dog's off-leash behavior, recall ability, and learning style (food or play motivated). How do your trust your dog outside? To decide whether to walk, run, or play, I'd like to know the dog's energy level, mobility, and playfulness. How much do they need to get tired out? Do they like fetch, or chase a ball? Do they like to chew? I have no breed preferences, but strong dogs over 70 pounds must definitely be handleable.

A typical day

Depending on the dog's interests and ability, we'll take an easy stroll, play one-on-one, meet other dogs/people at the park, or just explore in mindfulness. Southside, we'll walk through the Berkeley Hills and fire trails. Northside, we'll visit Codornices Park, Grizzly Peak, or Indian Rock. In West Berkeley, we can roam through downtown, from Ohlone Park to the Marina.
