FULL TIME SITTER, LARGE FENCED YARD
Pet care experience
PLEASE NOTE: 21/04/05. I’m currently preparing for hernia surgery and to have my side deck rebuilt. Plans are changing daily so I might not be able to accommodate certain situations for a period of time. Don’t worry, once a pup’s stay is locked in I will honor the agreement, but at the moment I’m not sure when construction will start or how long it will take me to recuperate from surgery. Feel free to reach out, I will do my best to help you. Thanks! ABOUT ME: I am a mature adult, a writer/project manager working from my home office. I have a background in pet care working as a vet tech, focusing on post-op and compassionate care of abuse cases, as a Petco bather, and as a special needs pet sitter. While I cannot offer high level veterinary care or diagnoses I can pill, syringe-feed medications and, if your pet can be handled by one person (me) I can administer sub-Q fluids. I have also worked with trainers, animal behaviorists and groomers. If you need to maintain a regular training schedule or want your pet bathed before returning home, we can discuss such services for an extra fee. In order to provide maximum comfort and a scent from home, please bring whatever comforts your dog prefers, such as favorite bedding or toys, along with food and treats so as not to disrupt the usual diet. Unfortunately, I cannot take extreme barkers that curb my concentration, or biters – as a writer I must protect my hands. But I can offer a loving place for your dog to stay in comfort while you each enjoy your respite from the usual routine. About this sitter: I love all things furry, big or small. I currently have no pets of my own (too brokenhearted after losing my last one of 20 years) so will gratefully cuddle yours during your fur baby's stay. I've spent my life working as a vet tech, at boarding kennels, remote pet sitting, and with behaviorists. I'm adept at handling special cases, from medical conditions, abuse cases, or geriatric care. If you need to maintain a regular training schedule or want your pet bathed before returning home, we can discuss such services for an extra fee. I am also interested in situations that might include traveling with the pet family as a pet nanny. Why I love dog sitting Who on earth doesn't love dogs?!! About my yard As shown in the pictures, my 1100 square foot home comes with a 6-foot fully fenced partially shaded back yard reinforced with railroad ties, a dog house large enough for 60 pound dogs, and an enclosed low-gate side deck (low gate opens to enclosed back yard). As are many of my neighbors, the back yard fence is currently chain-link, allowing for long distance viewing and plenty of visual entertainment. I also have a portable pen for puppies that can be moved as needed. Unless a pet is destructive or disruptive in some way, the pet can be allowed to wander in and out at leisure, at least during the summer months. I live just off Route 38 on the east side of Big Bear City, allowing for easy drop-off and pick-up on your way in and out of town. The neighborhood is a great location for leash walking with paved and dirt roads ranging from gentle inclines to slightly challenging slopes (if you prefer leash exercise to back yard freedom, please provide sturdy leash and collar with ID tags attached). My experience administering medication Though it was some time ago, I have a background as a veterinary technician and have continued care with my own special needs pets or assisting with others. While I cannot offer high level veterinary care or diagnoses I can do basic medication (pill and syringe-feed), and if your pet stays still or can be constrained, I can give sub-q fluids (please provide any fluids, special diets or medications on arrival, with complete instructions on dose, schedules, and the methods you personally use so as not to disrupt your pet’s routine).
Reviews
We were in a bind and Rene responded right away. It was our first time ever leaving our dog Luke and she really helped us ease the nerves. We received updates and pictures. Luke came home tired from all the playing around. I would definitely take Luke back!!
Renee was an awesome sitter for Stella. She kept us updated and sent pictures throughout the entire stay. Stella had an excellent and safe space to go outside and run around. She took great care of Stella and we will definitely have her watch Stella again.
Jack was happy and well cared for at Renee's. We will use her again next time we go out of town.
Great communication! Nicely fenced yard!

Information Renee D. would like to know about your pet
I would need to know what special requirements your dog might have, any special histories, limitations, or issues such as fear of loud noises or adding large rocks to the water and food dish to slow down consumption and reduce concerns of vomiting. Anything that will make your pet happier, and me better at providing for your pet’s needs. I have no breed preferences but unfortunately, I cannot take extreme barkers that affect my concentration, or biters – as a writer I must protect my hands. But I can offer a loving place for your dog to stay in comfort while you each enjoy your respite from the usual routine.
A typical day
Here's where we'll take our walks There is plenty of yard for exercise but if your dog likes walks (and is small enough to handle, and/or behaves rather than pulls free and runs) I can take it around the neighborhood. The neighborhood is a great location for leash walking with low traffic (kids play in the streets here), paved and dirt roads ranging from gentle inclines to slightly challenging slopes. If you prefer leash exercise to back yard freedom, please provide sturdy leash and collar with ID tags attached. Your dog's sleeping arrangement If your dog is not destructive it can pretty much sleep where it likes. I have a raised trampoline dog bed, a padded dog bed and blankets protecting my sofa. I will often camp on the floor with the dog if it seems to need company. Time I'll spend with your dog I currently telecommute from home so should be available the majority or all of the time.
