Kennel tech- base access!

Pet care experience

My experience with the Humane Society has prepared me for anything your pet has to offer. As a Kennel Technician, my job was the welfare of all of our boarding and daycare pets. There I was responsible for feeding, grooming, walks, medications, and ensuring the safety of a large group of dogs. I’ve seen it all, I can work with pets big or small, and I have excellent references. Unfortunately, services with a facility can be expensive and stressful for you and especially your pet. As they exist today, there is no formal agency that ensures a quality standard. Even the best companies are generally crowded, noisy, and increase chances of sickness. My mission is to bring better care to your fur baby, for less. I love making new furry friends! I cannot host any cats at our house as my partner is severely allergic :(. I have base access and can accommodate your pet(s) during deployments.

We are very happy with the care and attention Ren gives to our pups when she boards them. Her communication is excellent and we are satisfied repeat clients.

Ren took great care of our dogs in her home for their first time boarding through Rover. They were happy and Ren sent updates and photos and asked good questions to ensure that they settled in well. Highly recommend!

She was amazing. My little chihuahua has aggression and anxiety issues but Ren handled her perfectly. I felt good knowing my pups were in good hands while I was on vacation.

Safety, trust & environment

With new clients, it's crucial to get to know your pets and slowly gain trust. Being away from family, in the presence of strangers and/or a new environment is stressful so going at their pace is the key to success. Mirroring their lifestyle and schedule as best as possible can also help transitions. Along with plenty of exercise, sticking to feeding times and other routines is definitely the goal. If your pet is trained or learning signs and/or commands incorporating those throughout the stay where applicable is definitely a plus, so be sure to mention any of their skills. At our home, we have a large shaded fenced back yard for your dogs to romp around and chase squirrels.

Meet and greet required at least 24 hours before a booking. I will meet you and your pet(s) at a park on-leash. BEFORE MEET AND GREET: Please email me a document listing your pets medical history, medications, primary vet information, your phone numbers and emergency contacts. PDF format or Google doc preferred. Please also provide documents with proof of up-to-date vaccinations: Rabies, bordatella, canine flu, and distemper are a must. No breed discrimination. Your dog(s) must get along well with other dogs if staying at our house. While we keep our dogs and your dog(s) separate the first visit, if they are overly stressed or aggressive about the presence of other animals we will not be a good fit. If you are interested in socialization with our pets during daycare we like to have a slow multi-part introduction. First, a meet and greet with just your pets. Then a soft launch at daycare without the presence of our dogs for a short amount of time so I can profile their behavior. Then a meet and greet between your dog(s) and one of our dogs in a neutral location. Then we introduce them together. It is important to note that not all dogs get along with other dogs the same way humans don't get along with other humans. I do this slow approach to ensure safety and the best fit for your dogs and mine.

Availability

I'm a part-time park ranger 3 days a week. On days I work, my partner facilitates mid-day pup breaks around lunch time. Depending on your service request, frequent walks, potty breaks, enrichment activities will be plenty. BOARDING 3 walks/day minimum. Consistent supervised off-leash romp around time in our large enclosed back yard. Feeding and medications to your schedule. HOUSE SITTING 2-3 visits/day. House sitting is preferred because it puts less stress on your pets, however if your pet has special needs and needs round-the-clock care they might do better at our home. House sitting allows for more flexibility during long absences. I no longer provide overnight stays at client homes but will be available throughout the day for whatever you may need. DROP-INS/WALKS Walks and enrichment upon request. If you schedule a drop-in midday when the sun is it's hottest, I advise against walks for your pets safety. Overheating events and paw burns are easily avoidable.
