Pet care experience

Hello, I'm Reid! I provide the same level of attention for dogs as I would any house guest, and I pride myself on my hospitality :) I sit for only one client at a time and don't have pets of my own, so I'm especially well positioned to take care of dogs who need space from other dogs. I work from home and handle most of my errands online, so I rarely have to leave. That enables me to give uncommonly consistent attention and walks on short notice. I like taking breaks to play throughout the day (frankly they're for me as well as your dog!), working off energy with a walk around the neighborhood or playing fetch and tug-of-war. I'm here for all dogs, from energetic puppies to chill senior dogs who above all want a loving companion (as do I!).

Reid was amazing with my two pups! I had just moved to Austin and had a big stint of travel, so thankfully I was able to find Reid slightly last minute. We had a great Meet & Greet - he asked a lot of really good questions and took the time to make sure he was getting to thoroughly know each dog's behaviors, habits, etc, so I felt comfortable that they'd be in great hands. Over the 12 days he watched them, Reid was very communicative and did an excellent job... despite the fact that my dogs put him through the ringer a bit. My Frenchie had some GI issues where she had been vomiting, but thankfully I had left some bland food as a back up, so Reid was able to pivot and get her on a bland diet until everything cleared up. He was extremely responsive and helped give me peace of mind that he'd look after her like she's one of his own, which I was very appreciative of. My other 65 Chocolate Lab mix loved Reid as well, and Reid did a great job walking him and helping get his energy out - which believe me, is easier said than done sometimes. :) Throughout their visit, I got tons of adorable photos and could tell they were having a lot of fun. As tough as it is for me to find a trusted sitter, I'm grateful to have found Reid and wouldn't think twice about boarding them with him again. Would highly recommend!

Reid was so so great with Sagan! From the meet and greet I could tell that Reid is a dog person. This was a holiday stay over New Years, and our dog is really fearful of fireworks. Reid made sure he was comfortable the entire time and sent plenty of photos of Sagan looking super happy and relaxed. They took lots of walks and Sagan came home totally chilled out. Cannot recommend Reid enough! Thank you!

Information Reid C. would like to know about your pet

I'd like to know as much as possible about your dog before the sitting starts. Important information includes basic temperament and noteworthy habits/behaviors, how they interact with other dogs and people, any special health concerns, and what makes them happiest when they're hanging out at home or going on a walk. My goal is to approximate the lifestyle they have at home with you, to help them feel comfortable from the beginning.

A typical day

When it comes to walks, I give dogs as much time as they need to sniff and investigate their environment. Everyone has times when they can't give their dog the walk they wish they could. I'm here to give them that best walk every time! I know walks are just as much about soaking up new smells as they are about exercise, and that means taking time to pause, meander, and check out lots of new places. As with all aspects of sitting, I strive to be exceptional.

Dogs are great fun, but taking care of them is a serious responsibility, and that's always on my mind. When my dogs were still with me, I always worried how they were doing when I was away. Like dropping a child off at daycare, you can't help worrying after you part ways, especially with a new caregiver. It made a world of difference to find sitters on Rover who sent regular photo updates. It made me feel closer and connected. That's the perspective I bring to sitting. I'll consider my service a success when I've given you peace of mind knowing your pup is not only safe and sound, but also having fun. When you're away, is there anything better than getting a notification on your phone and picking it up to see a smiling picture of your dog on their own vacation?
