Former vet tech and veteran

Pet care experience

I have had pets my entire life and I have over 20 years experience as a vet tech. I love all animals and cannot image a life without having several animals living with me. I currently have 2 dogs - a female AKC Beagle and a German Shepard / Australian Shepard mix and 3 cats - an orange tabby, a seal point Siamese and a sweet DSH. All are rescue animals. Two of the cats adopted us. I have worked in numerous veterinary offices over years and recently had the pleasure to help out at an imaging center (MRI and CT Scans for dogs and horses) while one of the permanent employees took a short leave of absence. My experience includes exotics (avians, reptiles, primates, gerbils & rats/mice, etc.), and, of course, dogs and cats. I love being with animals. There isn't anything much better in this world than an excited greeting or a nice snuggle with your furry one. I want to help you by taking care of your fur babies (or feathery / scaly babies if that is your need). You can rest assured they will get tons of play, hugs and snuggles while you are not home. I treat all animals as I treat my own. Rover is my full time job so I have plenty of time to care for your sweet babies. I will follow the owner’s routine as closely as possible. If the pets are used to sleeping in your room and, if you prefer, I can sleep in there with them. Otherwise, the guest bedroom is absolutely acceptable. NOTE: During the summer months my 8 year old son (as of 2022) may need to accompany me on some appointments. He has been helping me with Rover for almost 3 years and is great with the animals. Micah understands how to match the pets’ energy level. Senior dogs are pet only, if needed. Younger dogs he will play with if the pups want to.

My dog is extremely sensitive and fearful of new people. Regina was able to make him calm and comfortable in her presence. I am so grateful for her care of my baby!

This was our second time using Regina and she will always be our first choice. Her communication is great and the pictures and videos of her interacting with our pup sets our minds at ease because we know she's well cared for. We consider ourselves lucky that Regina has come into our lives so that we never need to look any further for future trips away from home. Needless to say, she is highly recommended and we thank her for all that she does. :-)

Safety, trust & environment

During the first day I give the pets space until they feel comfortable with me. Sometimes it takes a full day (this occurs often for cats) but some pets are ready to accept me into their home the minute I walk in the door. I work with each pet's personality and act accordingly. I try to follow your daily routine as close as possible. Every time I enter the home we go outside for a potty break. I completely follow the pets' lead. If they want to play then that is what we do. If they want to snuggle I am always ready for it! If they want their own space I will leave them alone until they are ready to socialize again. For animals that are nervous of strangers I will sit on the couch and do my own thing speaking to them occasionally. This allows them to get used to me in their home and they will accept me when they are ready. I never force attention on shy pets. I have found that this confuses them and delays the trust process. They will always come to me when they realize I am there to love and care for them.

Information Regina B. would like to know about your pet

I love when my clients provide me with a lot of information about their pets. I am not just referring to just the feeding and/or medication schedule. Please tell me things they do and do not enjoy. You can include any quirks, cute habits, and things to be aware of (i.e. the cues to go outside, etc). Please do not think you can give me too much information. The more you can provide the better I can care for your fur baby.

A typical day

I let the pets call the shots. If they want to play, then we will play. Sometimes they just want to cuddle and I’m more than willing since this is one of my favorite things in the world. Occasionally, especially with cats, they just want to do their own thing. In this case I will sit near them and chat about my day until they are ready to socialize.

I love house sitting. It gives me a chance to really enjoy the pets' personalities. I try my best to adhere to your daily routine which reduces stress for the animals and allows them to accept me into their home pretty much immediately. *** I do not book house sitting appointments for more than 6 days. I will make an occasional exception but my rates for extended stays are as listed. ***
