Experienced sitter in Willard Beach
Pet care experience
Hello there! ~~~ Before I get to my experience, I wanted to include a quick note to let you know that I'm fully vaccinated and that my COVID-19 protocols can be found towards the end of my profile! ~~~ Now that that's over with, hi! I'm an experienced rover sitter/walker/dog and animal lover newly relocated to Maine after a decade down south. I live in South Portland in the Willard Beach neighborhood and have a cozy and comfortable home to myself that is a mere 2 blocks from the dog-friendly beach. I'm a graduate student working from home with flexible availability for walks, drop-in visits, daycare, in-home boarding, and overnight pet sitting in your own home! I've been working for rover and dogvacay on and off for roughly 10 years and have cared for dogs of all shapes and sizes (from Pomeranians to Pit Bulls!) including puppies and older dogs with special needs. Although I myself do not have a dog, my love for canines large and small knows no bounds (you should see the amount of dog-themed birthday and Christmas presents I receive each year)! COVID-19 Precautions: I'm a compulsive handwasher by nature, and have been monitoring the COVID-19 outbreak closely throughout the year. In addition to hand sanitizer, I have been carrying extra antibacterial wipes and travel size spray bottles of Lysol to wipe down door knobs, hooks, keys, clasps on leashes and harnesses, any any other surfaces I come into contact with. If you are self-isolating: I ask that you leave your dog's leash and harness by the front door, separate from other household items and spaces if possible. I'm always happy to refill water bowls if needed, and hope you understand that I may spend extra time washing my hands and wiping down surfaces in your home! For boarding in my own home, I have a set of bowls and an assortment of toys and will be sanitizing anything that comes into my home (for plush toys, this means laundering them in hot water). If you are in quarantine: I encourage you to follow whatever steps your healthcare provider has advised in addition to the other measures outlined above. I realize this is an exceptionally stressful time and hope I can help cute your pet's cabin fever!
Reviews
Our pups enjoyed the stay and played with her dogs. We will definitely book with Rebecca again. She sent funny pictures.
Thank you for always taking the best care of these two pups! 🧡
Thanks for taking such great care of Birdie.
Rebecca was fantastic. She took our puppy in for four days on short notice and provided updates along the way. Our dog left her house happy and his tail wagging! Highly recommend Rebecca to anyone looking for help sitting a dog.

Before any booking, I always prefer to meet beforehand to introduce myself to you and your dog and go over and particular needs or preferences regarding your dog's care. Feel free to message me to schedule a meet-and-greet at a location of your choosing! Below are some questions to consider that I find helpful as a sitter: Does your dog have any special needs I need to be aware of? This could include medications, allergies, or neurosis that might need accommodating. How does your dog do on a leash? Are they reactive to people or passing animals (domestic and wild)? Do they pull or strain (something I can work on through training)? Are they a trash goblin? Are you and your dog comfortable with other dogs in the home in the event that your reservation overlaps with another reservation? Is your loved one food motivated or do they love toys? Although I do not have children, my neighborhood is full of them! How does your pup do around kids? How does your pup manage separation anxiety? I'll be home a majority of the time, but if I do need to step out, it's always helpful to know what I can do to ease your pet's anxiety (kongs, puzzle toys, the soothing sound of NPR, crate training, etc...)
A typical day
As I said above, my love for dogs knows no bounds! I treat any pet I board or walk as though it were my own, and try to engage in exercise and playtime to keep your loved one stimulated and happy. My home is a two minute walk from Willard Beach, which is accessible to dogs during summer hours. Although I never allow dogs in my care off-leash (until we have an established relationship with 100% recall), I don't mind incorporating the beach into walks or playtime. My yard will be fenced-in in the coming weeks, but I am always willing to drive nearby dog parks to burn energy!
