Jane is a complete mutt, I have heard many different breed guesses from professionals, she is 8 years old. Jobin, a Catahoula-Pitt mix, was adopted from a friend at 8 weeks old, 5 years ago. Over the course of my childhood I have owned a number of pets including a rabbit, Husky mix, Beagle mix, and a Collie-Lab mix. My family also took care of a few feral cats. Experience: I worked at one of the most successful boarding facility in Richmond, VA for a 1.5 years where I learned a lot, including taking the 101 and 201 course that The Dog Gurus offer. I have watched family members pets, where I spent multiple nights in a row, feeding, walking, cleaning up after, and of course loving the dogs. Another option I have experience with, is going to a friend's house a couple times a day feeding, walking, and spending time with the pets. I have experience working with many different dog personalities by volunteering at no-kill shelters, Richmond SPCA and Richmond Animal League, a spay and neuter clinic, pet setting for friends and family, and caring for my own pets. I've gone through a few different workshops at Richmond SPCA and Richmond Animal League to learn how to handle different dogs to make them feel comfortable, trusting, and loved. Some of the workshops also included training trips including house, leash and crate training, long leash play, bathing correctly, giving medication, and teaching basic tricks using the clicker and reward method. I've also taken the Dog First Aid/CPR course through Red Cross to get certified to ensure your dog is fully safe and in good hands. I have been trusted by people to spend the night while caring for their pets, as well as bring my own dogs for socializing. I have also just stopped by in the mornings and evenings to feed, walk, and clean up any messes. Why I love dog sitting I've been a dog lover my entire life, but I have really started to embrace this passion within the last 5 years by volunteering with shelters, clinics, and doing a fair amount of research on caring and understanding dogs as a species, as well as dog breeds. My Experience Administering Medication: Yes, I have helped give various medication to dogs at the boarding facility, shelters and the clinic. Any information would be helpful, whether you have pill pockets, what you and they prefer the medication to be mixed with, peanut butter, wet food, etc.
