Raquel has been a co-worker and dear friend to me for over two years. Her care for her own animals still continues to amaze me, let alone her skill at befriending my sweet but shaky and unpredictable rescue dog, Maya. When my partner and I went traveling last year for the holidays, we were hesitant to leave Maya for the first time. We begged Raquel to watch her for us, because Raquel is one of the few other humans that Maya is comfortable and consistent around. And even though she did it as a favor, we insisted on paying Raquel like a seasoned professional, because she may as well be one! Sure enough, when we got back after two weeks, Maya was Not eager to see Raquel go (and neither were we- she left our house in better shape than we did!). Raquel did a great job of keeping Maya on the diet we prescribed, and showering her with love without letting her get out of control as she is so wont to do. And even though they no longer see each other often, Maya is overjoyed to see Raquel every time we stop by. Dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs- I've seen all flourish under her care, and I am so glad that others will now be able to benefit from her love and expertise as well!
