My mom is a veterinarian so I grew up with a lot of pets around. It was never an option for me to not love all animals big and small. Being a daughter of a veterinarian has provided me an incredible amount of time spent with and learning about animals. I have learned about basic cat and dog first aid. I worked in my mom’s animal hospital for several summers in high school and undergrad. I also was in dog obedience/showmanship in 4-H for 3 years when I was a kid, so I am used to handling dogs with lots of people and other animals around. I now have 2 cats but it’s a super secret that I’m a dog person. If my cats found out I’m scared what I would come home to. Currently, I’m a first-year medical student at the University of Minnesota, and I’m most interested in Emergency Medicine and/or Surgery. I have excellent time management skills and also value every second spent with an animal because I know how destressing it can be to kick back with a furry friend.
