Pet care experience

While having no pets myself, I’m always the one my friends and family call on to pet sit their furry loved ones. My daughter loves playing with all of them I’m currently a work from home mom with a toddler and plenty of free time to spend hanging with furry friends. looking to make some extra income I live in a 2 bedroom apartment that has plenty of comfortable carpeting and hardwood as well a fenced in doggie park right next door

Wish I had better things to say but this was such a disappointing and stressful experience. I wrote down all the care instructions and made it very clear that my dog could not be left alone unless it was an emergency and no more than 30 minutes, or he would likely become destructive trying to escape because he has extreme separation anxiety. Both Kaleigh and Rachelle affirmed that this was no problem and that they would not leave him alone. On the 2nd day I received a text asking if I could get someone to come pick up my dog because he was “chewing doors and pooping and peeing constantly”. My dog has stayed with many sitters and never had any issues. He is fully house trained. I assume they did not walk him and left him alone. When I called Kaleigh she mentioned that these issues had happened when she did in fact leave him alone with her 3 year old. She said she had overreacted and could continue to watch him. I allowed this because I had no other option and was half way across the country. When my sister picked him up, he was alone at the house with no one there, trying to escape and freaking out. She remarked based off of a couple “clues” that he had probably never been walked and they had him off leash outside. This entire experience was completely unprofessional, communication was pretty bad through the entire time. Neither sitter informed me that Rachelle had left town for a family emergency. He probably would have been safer and more cared for in a kennel.

Before booking with Rachelle, I was aware that she had a small child. I verified that her child would be accompanying her on her stay while she cared for my dog so that I could make the appropriate accommodations for them. Communication prior to booking was great! I provided her with Reagan's schedule and there were no questions. I even made sure that she was aware that Reagan did get a daily walk. After the second time I saw Rachelle going upstairs, I sent a kind reminder. This was on a Friday morning at which time she told me that she was cleaning up a mess from the dog. My dog does not make accidents unless she is scared. She stated that she made a mess on Wednesday when there was a storm and she didn't get her walk. This made no sense to me. Why go clean up a mess that occurred on a Wednesday evening? At this time, I knew I could not trust her. I requested she leave my home. I checked in the mornings on video to see if Reagan was being let out in time. She was not adhering to the schedule from day one. Rachelle let my dog out 4 hours behind what she is accustomed too. When I noticed this, I investigated into some video surveillance to see exactly what was going on. Frequently her daughter was left unsupervised with my dog. In one instance, she hit my dog. She was getting into things and messes not cleaned up. Even after a second reminder, Rachelle continued to let herself and daughter go upstairs where my daughters rooms are. I came home to a disaster upstairs. It was evident that the child was allowed upstairs because of the disaster left in both rooms. Toys were everywhere and some even broken. A speaker was toppled over onto the floor and jewelry was placed in a makeup box. Beds were also a mess. I had crumbs in the master bed. I felt that it would have only been appropriate to at least put the sheets in a pile on the floor so I could attend to them when I arrived home. Besides my dog not being let out in time, she was also not getting her daily walks or fed on time. Rachelle is my second house sitter that I have hired on Rover. My first experience was phenomenal which is why I gave it a second chance. I am certain there are reliable, trustworthy sitters available.
