Pet care experience
I grew up with three dogs, and while I don't have one of my own, I'm always looking for opportunities to pet and play with other people's dogs. I've volunteered walking dogs at shelters, volunteered walking dogs for the elderly ranging from Scotties to Bernese Mountain Dogs, walked my neighbor's Mini Golden Doodle when she was injured, and sometimes take care of another neighbor's Pomeranian while she's away at work. I started providing dog care through rover.com in the fall of 2019, and enjoy the opportunity to meet and care for a wide variety of dogs. My building on East 56th St. has a full-time doorman and elevators and is a few blocks from a park along the East River. I'm in and out on weekends, so am a good match for dogs who are okay to be left alone for a few hours. I require an initial meeting before your dog's stay, and prefer that your dog stay with me for at least half an hour without you there during this visit. This allows your dog to get more comfortable with me and my space, which can alleviate any anxiety from being left with a stranger, and also helps to assess whether we are a good match.
Reviews
Rachel was a wonderful pet sitter - very kind to my aging Shih Tzu, clear about what to expect (how many walks a day & when, etc), patient and caring. She sent a lot of wonderful photos, too. Her apartment is very comfortable and pet friendly. I highly recommend her for any pet sitting job.
Rachel is very caring, organized and diligent. She sent me wonderful photos and updates through out the days that I was away, which made me feel at ease knowing my pup was in good hands.
Rachel was a great sitter for Cali. Cali was a little nervous staying somewhere new but Rachel was super attentive. Once Cali warmed up, she enjoyed her stay. I also received pictures & updates throughout her stay. Next time I need a sitter, I will definitely consider using Rachel again.
Informative updates and thoughtful question - Rachel has been incredible with Maisey, we are so lucky to have her! Bonus: she also takes incredible photos!

Information Rachel T. would like to know about your pet
Unfortunately, I'm not able to care for dogs who aren't house trained or who need constant attention, as I do work from home during the week. I'm also not a good match for dogs with separation anxiety, as I will be in and out of the apartment on weekends.
A typical day
On weekends, I like to take dogs on long walks in Central Park, or up to Carl Schurl Park. They'll never be off leash outside, but if they need to get some exercise, I may throw a ball for them in the hallway!
