Full-Time Walker & Sitter!

Pet care experience

*UPDATE (3/23) I currently have two afternoon spots available for weekly walks! Hi, I'm Rachel, and I am a full-time sitter located in Huntingdon Valley. I have extensive experience working with a wide range of breeds and temperaments-over the years I’ve been lucky enough to work with some of the coolest dogs- retired Iditarod sled dogs, working breeds like Malinois and Pointers, Great Danes, Bully Breeds, Bloodhounds, Poodles, and Frenchies- to name a just a few! I’m comfortable and happy to work with fearful, reactive, under socialized, high drive, or otherwise "challenging" pets (please elaborate on their “quirks” beforehand- for both my own and your pups safety!). I’m also always willing to work with you to enforce training or offer insight on behavioral issues either during walks or overnight stays. As a dog-mom to an incredibly high energy Husky and a teeny six pound Yorkie, I not only understand how nerve wracking leaving your pets with someone new can be, but also what a huge difference in care various breeds and sizes demand (for example my husky crushes 5-10+ mile bike rides, while my 6 pounder enjoys leisurely strolls & sunbathing). I am a full-time sitter, so my life is ALL about dogs (and any other pets you may have!)

Rachel has been my go-to sitter since I first found her on rover 5 years ago. She not only watches my dog overnight when I go away, she has walked him nearly every day during the week over the past 5 years. Rowen LOVES her and she is very dependable and trustworthy. I’ve had other sitters fill in when she is away or was already booked for overnight care, but she really is the best of the best. Rachel is professional and never misses a day of walks, let’s me know if she’s running behind schedule and why, and has always taken amazing care of my house when I’m away. She is also clearly very competent and knowledgable about high-drive breeds like my Dutch Shepherd and respects apretty strict training guidelines for Rowen who prone to reactivity. All that to say, I highly recommend Rachel to anyone looking for a pet-sitter! I’m really not sure what I would do without her!

Rachel was fantastic. We booked her as a dog/house sitter at the last minute. She came and met our dog ahead of time to make sure they were a good match and to get a run through of our routine. Rachel sent detailed notes and pictures each day. She also left our house spotless. Our dog LOVED her. We will definitely be using Rachel again in the future.

Information Rachel S. would like to know about your pet

For most situations, I require a 'Meet & Greet' before any stay with a new dog (or cat) is booked. During this meeting, we can discuss any behavioral tendenacies, dietary/health concerns, and anything else that may be important for me to know about you and your pet!

A typical day

As a an outdoor enthusiast myself, I value taking time to make sure your pet gets plenty of exercise and stimulation outside either in your yard or on local trails. For high energy, fit dogs, I offer trips to some local trails, play dates with one (or both) of my personal pups, an option of a run/bike for dogs who need more than a walk mid-day, even day-long hiking adventures on the weekends during overnight stays! Do you have a senior, or special needs dog with limited mobility? We can spend quality time kicking it back at home cuddling or sunbathing in the backyard!
