Caring student here for your pet.

Pet care experience

I am a WashU graduate student with 10 years of professional and personal pet care experience. My family and I have always had dogs in the house, and we consider them family. I do not have any pets of my own in St. Louis, but my family has two French bulldogs back at home.

Rachel sat with our two poodles for 4 days and 3 nights. We felt comfortable with her from the beginning. She asked lots of questions so she was sure to understand the quirky personalities and needs of both dogs. Rachel was very quick to respond to our texts. She kept our boys to their normal routine and they were happy and healthy when we returned. Rachel also got in our mail and deliveries and left our home spotless. We will definitely use her services again when we travel.

Rachel was amazing. She took care of my cats sincerely. She went above and beyond. When I was away for a month, I had no doubt that may cats’ needs are met. I would rebook Rachel without any hesitation for my times away.

Highly recommend and would use Rachel again. Friendly, reliable and Sally pulls me towards her front door every time we walk past so she definitely enjoyed her time with Rachel.

Safety, trust & environment

I am a highly attentive and responsible caretaker who always stays in tune with an animal's needs. For instance, I ensure that the outdoor temperature is safe for dogs to be taken out in, I keep a safe distance if it appears that there is any tension between your pet and another while walking, I ensure that pets are eating and drinking normally, and I keep an eye out for anything that might be tempting for an animal to try to swallow, both at home and during walks. I care for others' pets with the same love and care that I have shown towards my pets. However, I am also highly attuned to the specific concerns and needs given to me by pet owners, as they are the experts on their pet's life. If anything seems to be "off," I let the owners know in a timely fashion. I always ensure that the animals I care for are in a safe environment and adapt to their specific needs. Their safety is always the top priority. Additionally, I do not have any animals in my home, which means I can give all of my attention to yours :)

Information Rachel S. would like to know about your pet

It would be essential for me to know about any special needs, sensitivities, or food allergies. For example, our dogs are susceptible to heat stroke, and we make sure any potential caregivers pay special attention to the weather and adapt accordingly. It would also be vital for me to know how your pets interact with other pets, feeding times, how often and long they are typically walked, and any other traits I would need to know to support their wellbeing.

A typical day

I love spending time outdoors, and that time is even better spent in the company of animals. I love walking around the Demun area or heading into Forest Park for a stroll. For dog walks, I take dogs out for 30 minutes (about 1-2 miles depending on the dog) starting from when we leave the door. I leave it up to the owners regarding the number of walks needed each day if I am house sitting, so please specify. I am happy to take them out several times a day, as I too enjoy being outside. When I am cat sitting, I give as much TLC and attention as needed, play with the cats using lasers and toys, and ensure that any specific needs, such as medication administration, are met.
