Energetic dog & cat lover in SOMA
Pet care experience
After a 2-year hiatus from Rover, I'm back at it and excited to meet your furry friends! A dog lover all of my life, I have previously shared a home with a Lab/Chow mix, an Australian Shepherd mix, and a Beagle. I cared for each of them from puppy years to adulthood. I would best summarize myself as the houseguest who wants more dog time than friend time. :) Much to my surprise, five years ago I adopted two adult cats. They've taught me a lot about caring for animals in a holistic way. Now when folks ask me if I'm a dog or cat person, I just say "yes!" I have experience caring for dogs and cats in their golden years who require constant monitoring and medication administration as well as young pups who are in training - and all ages in between! Rest assured your furry friend(s) will be treated like a member of my family with as much love as they deserve. I live in the SOMA area of San Francisco which allows me to provide walks through the city streets, the Embarcadero, or a park stroll depending on the owner's preference and home location. I am also available for drop-in visits.
Reviews
Rachel is great. She responds quickly and is very accommodating with all my crazy issues with the new puppy. I know Tucker is very happy to have her drop in and play with him during the day.
I think Tucker really enjoyed having Rachel to stopping by during the day while we were at work. And Rachel was very open to all of our requests and responded quickly to all communications.
Rachel is fantastic! I felt confident in her upon meeting her. She spent a long weekend at our house watching our dog. She sent me updates and pictures. Most importantly, I came home to very happy dog. She went above and beyond leaving our house tidy and laundry done. I would definitely use her again and recommend her.
Rachel did a great job being mellow with our skittish pup. The house was clean and everything in order. We would love to have her back next time!

During the meet-and-greet, you can expect that I will take notes about your pet, your home environment, and your expectations for the care I will provide. I will use these notes as a guide to ensure I am providing the best care possible.
Information Rachel H. would like to know about your pet
Before I meet your pal, let's talk about the following: 1. Is your dog/cat currently in training with you or a professional? 2. Is your dog/cat potty trained? 3. Is your dog crate trained, or do they roam about the home freely? 4. Do you want your dog to get some exercise? If so, what kind? 5. How does your dog behave when you're out on a walk together? 6. Does your dog/cat have any dietary restrictions, allergies or medical issues? 7. Does your dog/cat have any personality qualities or quirks I should be aware of? (separation anxiety, excessive grooming, barking, leash resistance, puppy-nipping, etc.) 8. What boundaries have you set for your dog/cat in the home? 9. What is your favorite trait about your dog/cat?
A typical day
Spending time with your dog or cat is all about them. When your pal wants to play, we play. When your pal wants to talk, we talk. When your pal wants to sleep, fine by me. (And when they want to wrestle, we can do that too, if owner-approved.) Living in SF, there's no shortage of streets and parks where your dog and I can take safe walks or jogs. I love going to the waterfront and have never met a park I didn't like.
