My name is Rachel, and I have over 13 years of experience providing animal care. I am happiest and healthiest when I'm around animals. I love dogs, have grown up around them, have pet-sat for multiple animals at a time, and am a very athletic and energetic individual. I love any breed, any age, and don't mind being licked on the mouth or jumped on. I have a degree in applied psychology and English, and am a former nonprofit program coordinator. My ideal career would be one which allows me to be outdoors and/or perpetually on the move. I am a person committed to social change, and currently live and work in Brooklyn. I pride myself on my excellent communication skills, reliability, and commitment to fulfilling the needs of my clients and their pets, no matter how great or complex those needs might be. ▪️I am comfortable working with every size/age dog and cat, from high-energy giants to puppies under a year old. ▪️I am skilled in administering oral medications to both cats and dogs. ▪️I have firsthand experience caring for elderly/geriatric (15+ y/o) furry friends. ▪️I can provide basic obedience training to younger dogs (sit, stay, down, etc.) as well as leash training for puppies. ▪️I am willing to board (host in my home) small dogs/puppies under 20 lbs, provided they are crate trained, potty trained, leash trained, and good with cats 🐱 ▪️If you would like me to water any plants or bring in (reasonably-sized!) packages, please let me know—I would be happy to do so at no extra charge!

I always make an effort to establish a solid sense of trust and understanding with both pet owners and their animals. I like to ask questions so I'm sure all bases are covered; I don't hesitate to follow up or clarify if something is unclear. I strive to make my clients (human and furry) feel 100 percent comfortable and assured, and am always willing to try things a new way if the client's request is reasonable and within my skill set. If I'm not sure how a pet parent would prefer I approach a particular situation or tackle a certain problem pertaining to their pet's safety and wellbeing, I will reach out to them to get their insight before acting.

A typical day
I love spending time with all animals, but especially dogs who enjoy their walks and being outdoors. I like to take the dogs I care for to green spaces as much as possible, and am happy to bring them to a dog park if I'm absolutely certain they're good with other animals off-leash. I also love running around & playing outside, so if your pup likes to play fetch or tug o' war, I'm game! With cats, I've found there's definitely more of a range of likes/dislikes and preferences. Whether your kitty prefers snuggling on the sofa or chasing a laser, I'm happy to find what works best for them and makes them feel relaxed.
