Pet care experience
I am an experienced and well-trusted house and farm sitter. I love animals of all kinds and have done volunteer work with dogs, cats, horses and wild birds. While farm sitting (pre-Rover) I've had the opportunity to take care of sheep, turkeys, chickens, dogs and cats as well as tending gardens. I also used to have my own flock of chickens. :) I haven't had a dog since I was a kid, but I've been lucky to have roommates who have dogs; I've also done house/farm sitting, drop in visits, play dates and walk visits before I came to Rover; I'm hoping to extend my interaction with animals with this site. I work full time as a Payroll Manager/Human Resources, but animals make me happy :) I live in an apartment across from the Ralston Creek park in Arvada. It is on the third floor and I prefer not to board dogs there. I have done it and it can be difficult with larger or older dogs. I also prefer to house sit / farm sit because the animals are more comfortable in familiar surroundings. I am experienced with medication dispersal, special food considerations, etc. and I do not treat or give toys without permission. I hope to hear from you and that we can come to an arrangement that works for everybody. :)
Reviews
Rachel stayed with our furry family right after a time of both awesome and sad changes in our lives. Jersey was very sad and anxious while we were gone. Rachel was kind and patient with her and we really appreciate her help!
We hired Rachel to stay with our dog at our house while we were away getting married. We had one small miscommunication mishap with her, where we couldn't get in contact with her the night she was supposed to start. We had no way to make sure she made it into the house and was with our dog, after we had asked her to notify us when she arrived. After a few hours of panicking, she finally contacted us back, and let us know it was because her daughter had given birth. That was fine, and a one time issue is excusable, things happen. However, after our return, I ran into my neighbor and she said she felt compelled to let me know that Rachel, many nights in a row, left my dog outside and in the dark while she went out of the house for hours. Our dog is not an outside dog, and honestly no dog should be left in the dark. Apparently he barked constantly, disturbing the neighborhood, and causing himself extreme stress to the point where he got sick. She notified me during the stay that he was having stomach issues, but I was not aware of what was causing it. I had made it clear to her at our meet and greet that he needs to be supervised at all times when he is outside and that when he starts barking he should be brought in, neither of these requests/directions were followed. The only reason I gave her two stars, and not 1, is because she was flexible and extended her stay by 1 day at our request.
Rachel took great care of our 2 dogs, 3 cats and 30 chickens while we were away for the better part of 2 weeks. Not only that she helped water the plants and left the house is excellent condition. She kept us up to date with some unexpected events while we were gone and didn't hesitate to call those on our contact list when we were unable to be reached. We trust her and would gladly have her sit for us again if she were up to it. Thank you Rachel!
Rachel was fantastic with our two dogs this weekend. We really appreciated all of the updates and pictures she sent. Definitely booking with her again!
