If you want your pet to be provided the highest quality around-the-clock care, with equal attention paid to their physical, emotional, and medical well-being, look no further! I'm Rachael, an experienced pet sitter with a past working history as a dog walker, veterinary receptionist, kennel technician, and veterinary assistant. My long-term partner, Michael, and I both work from home in a single-family house in Parkville. We have a grassy, fenced-in backyard as well as a spare bedroom (which doubles as my home office and fostering/quiet space for pets). We live close to several state parks, including Double Rock, Cromwell Valley and Gunpowder Falls and love to go on hikes. We also live near to several urgent veterinary facilities, including Urgent Vet Care and Towson Pet+ER. We currently have 3 rescued furbabies: Kami, a white domestic shorthair, Ziggy, the fastest mutt you will ever meet, and our newest family member Gnocchi, a black tabby kitten! I recently left the veterinary industry in part to pursue running my own photography business full-time, and in part to strive for a healthier work/life balance. This career move has given me the flexibility to once again accept new furry friends into my home, something I'm very excited about! I have been trained in Fear Free techniques, a guide for fostering trust and reducing stress and anxiety in pets when they received veterinary care. I am able to administer any medications your pet needs, both orally and subcutaneously. I base all of my relationships with the dogs and cats in my care on mutual respect. I am very attentive, careful to pick up your pet's reactions. Once we build trust, your fur baby and I can get started on having fun! Michael and I are fun and energetic people who love going on hikes and walks, and will cater to your dog or cat's play-style. We are also huge on cuddling, so your baby will never want for scratches and love! In my years working with animals, I have learned many things-- how to employ fear-free tactics when administering veterinary care, how to diffuse tense situations between incompatible dogs, how to gain the trust of shy cats, various grooming services, and much more. Most importantly, I've learned the importance of getting to know each animal's unique personality. When your pet vacations with us, you will get daily picture updates, and complimentary canine grooming services are available upon request. The grooming services that we offer are brushing, ear cleaning, nail trims, basic teeth brushing, and shampoo and conditioner. Please note that because our focus is on keeping your pup happy and care-free, we will only complete grooming services so long as your dog is comfortable. We both work from home most of the time, so at least one of us will be available 24/7 to care for your pet! Michael works remotely M-F, while Rachael photographs weddings on weekends. With 3 animals of our own, we are very conscientious of their routines and working around their needs. For in-home stays: we have a fenced-in, grassy backyard. Our 5-year-old, 35lb mutt Ziggy has always been accommodating of all the pets we watch in our home. He loves to play, but also knows when to take a break. Our two cats are also very friendly towards dogs. We have a hose in our backyard so your dog can enjoy a refreshing spray of water on hotter days (if they like that kind of thing)! As mentioned previously we do have a spare bedroom, so this can serve as a quiet place for your pet, or as a feeding room if your dog has any anxiety or aggression around meal times.
