Your pup’s home away from home!

Pet care experience

Dogs are part of the family and the worlds best example of unconditional love! They’re each uniquely themselves. Dogs have social, emotional, and physical needs as important as ours in order to thrive. I enjoy getting to know each dogs individual personality, and have a natural ability to “read” them. I’m an intuitive and compassionate “dog person” with decades of experience integrating “pack” members (including cats!). Now, after 3 years of Rover sitting, I remain confident in my ability to make pets comfortable and keep them safe. Before having children my pets were my babies, and I believe equally in respectful, positive parenting for kids and dogs. Having two young boys, I’m not able to provide financially to have our own dog, but we love having dogs around. A house without a dog is not a home! Rover provides a solution to both problems, and income enough for me to stay home with my kids (and your dogs). Thank you so much!! Being home full-time is so beneficial to my kids, and to the dogs we have visit. We would love to spend time playing and exercising with your pup, maintaining a training routine, or just snuggling! We spend a lot of time outside and would love to bring your buddy along. I am available almost all the time for boarding, daycare, drop-ins, or walks. I will send multiple photo/video updates to owners who will be missing their babies and buddies! I love all breeds and have experience with sporting, hound, terrier, herding, non-sporting and toy groups. Instagram @dogsitterstories. Thanks to you and Rover, I’m able to be home full-time. This means I’m also able to have a dog-centered daily routine which includes play, exercise, potty and feeding. I have no pets of my own, and many repeat clients. Because of my relationship with each dog, I can confidently manage their interactions, and screen for potential personality conflicts. I’m able to accommodate many different personalities in my home because I have the space to honor their individual needs. Most of my schedule outside the home is very flexible, so I can accommodate dogs with separation anxiety that can’t tolerate being alone. I don’t leave mixed households alone together and do not leave dogs alone with my kids. I carefully separate dogs during meal times and sleep unless they’re well-bonded with one another. No raisins allowed when dogs are visiting. Onions, garlic, and chocolate are on the top shelf. I only have xylitol in the medicine cabinet. Chemical cabinets and trash cans are child and dog-proofed. I am able to watch them while I’m gone via webcam!

Rachael is amazing and my go to dog sitter!!! She is always on top of it and treats my dog like her own. I appreciate her going above and beyond every single time.

Rachel took great care of our Molly while we were out of town. She sent photos and videos showing us how much fun Molly was having playing and hiking with her doggie friends. Rachel even washed Molly before we picked her up, so she came home clean and ready to rest from her fun and exercise filled vacation with Rachel.

I can’t say enough good things about Rachael. I have a young German shepherd (1yo) and he’s obviously very energetic and can be a little vocal when he’s super excited, she handled him with a smile on her face and loved all his “songs.” If you want your dog to be in compassionate and more than capable hands, look no further. As a travel nurse, Rachael was a little slice of heaven while I was in Boise and I cannot recommend her enough!

1. Are they are good with kids? 2. Are they current on their rabies vaccine? 3. Are they food and/or possession protective? 4. Can they go off-leash and/or to an unfenced dog park? 5. Are they a flight risk? 6. Are they allowed on the couch and bed? 7. How much food and how often? 8. If/when I leave them home alone do they need to be crated? 9. What is their favorite way to play? 10. Who do I call in an emergency?

A typical day

I will always accommodate each dogs individual needs for exercise and containment, but we have general routines for most dogs. When the foothills and muddy or coyote-infested in Spring and Summer we do breakfast and then early morning trips to the dog parks (or a few special parks that are my secret!). Mid-day napping to beat the heat, and usually playing in the yard after it cools down… Being raised in Arizona, I am VERY careful about dogs in the heat. They can only cool through their paws and their mouths, so those fur coats can become dangerous quickly. I have two rooms in my home with cold, tile floors that I use for dog-cooling after play. I’m always sure to have an extra supply of clean, cool water down in the summer. In the Fall and Winter the foothills are where we go for exercise and play usually during mid-day. If your dog prefers fetch, we will just do that. If your dog can’t be off-leash, we will stick to leashed neighborhood walks.
