I am a "retired from the industry" veterinary technician with over 10 years of experience. I first started working at Commonwealth Veterinary Hospital in Newton in 2002. I worked there as a full time vet tech for about 8 years and then worked for another 4 at Huron Veterinary Hospital in Somerville. I eventually changed my career to work full time in arts. I managed a now closed electronic music school in Cambridge and worked as a project management in a public art curatorial non-profit. Some of the projects I helped with are still on display all around Boston. These days, I am a project manager in Northeastern University. I have been pet sitting on/off for the last 20 years. In the time before Rover, my clients would come from the vet hospitals I worked at. I took a break from pet sitting for a few years when working in public art and my hours were unpredictable. Why I love dog sitting I've been a dog lover from birth I believe. I always was on "first name basis" with all of the neighborhood dogs when I was a little kid often times scaring my parents by giving hugs to giant German Shepherds and Dobermans. Somehow I never got bitten or scratched and carried my love for dogs up until today. Meet my pets I do not have any pets at this time but I share custody of my roommate's cat Bisti AKA Best Cat In The World.

Polina is excellent! She had an immediate rapport with our pup—he was overjoyed to see her again when she came back to sit for him days after the initial meet and greet. She also really knows what she’s doing with animal care and handling, which meant that we could trust her to administer a supplement, use all his various types of leashes/gear correctly, and deal with his leash reactivity to other dogs. She sent us updates and *amazing* pics while we were gone. And she was flexible with our schedule changes and left our house in perfect order. Highly recommend!

Polina did a great job with Hudson! She spent time with him, took him out, fed him and administered his medicine — and even took in some packages we received! We were lucky to find Polina and will definitely hire her again!
We were very nervous about leaving our anxious dog Chloe for a long weekend, but Polina went above and beyond to make us (and Chloe) feel comfortable! She communicated with us both before and throughout her stay, so we knew that everything was going well! She always responded super quickly to any message we sent, and Chloe seemed to have a great time with her! We would 100% recommend Polina to anyone and would definitely have her watch Chloe again in the future!

I am available to take care of your pets (cats, dogs, rodents, fish, birds) and plants while you are away. I don't have a car but I am an avid walker. I am happy to administer treatments or medications and provide advanced medical care as well. I have the proficiency and experience of taking care of animals with a variety of chronic medical conditions such as diabetes (melllitus and insipidus), Hypo/hyperadrenocortisism, renal disease, pancreatitis, post surgical recovery (ortho and otherwise), separation anxiety, thyroid disease and many more. If you have a "special needs" pet, I am the right person for the job.

Medical issues first and foremost Behavioral issues or potentially dangerous habits. If your pup is a barker or a compulsive chewer or a garbage raid enthusiast, I need to be aware of it to make the necessary arrangements to avoid any problems.
A typical day
Where we will go on walks I am not comfortable letting dogs off the leash unless I am in a completely fenced in area. I am happy to go for long walks or even runs; however, I wouldn't let your pooch off the leash in a city park. With the majority of my current clients, we go for walks around their neighborhoods. Your dog's sleeping arrangement Wherever they chose to. I have no problems letting dogs in the bed with me as long as it's allowed by the owner. Time I'll spend with your dog On the days that I work, I don't make any other plans while pet sitting so that I spend as much time with the dog as possible. On days off, I am usually at home but may chose to run some errands or go out to dinner etc as long as the dog had plenty of TLC. I wouldn't be gone longer than 3-4 hours at the most. Extra house-sitting services I am happy to water plants or take in the mail.

I keep an 8-4:30 office schedule; however, I can exercise some flexibility and opt to work remotely on some days. I can also adjust my in-office hours with enough notice.
