I have had dogs all my life & I can't imagine a life without dogs. For most of our 35 year marriage my husband & I have owned at least 3 dogs at the same time. Currently we share our life with a mixed breed dog name Sally. Sally is just 3 years old & was rescued by a neighbor from the road as an emaciated 10 week old puppy. She has grown up to be a 40 pound dog. She is an amazing, sweet & loyal dog. We also have Jefferson & Jackson both elderly, retired foxhounds. Jefferson & Jackson prefer to wander the rooms in the walk out basement. They don't like to do stairs. For 22+ years I worked as a veterinary technician at a busy 3 doctor, small animal practice in Maryland. I left that job because my husband retired & we moved to Bedford VA. The hospital where I worked was also a boarding facility. I am accustomed to handling many types of dogs from the tiny toy breeds to the giants. I feel my experience as a veterinary technician will help me to recognize any potential medical problem your dog might have & I also have very much experience with treating dogs with either oral or topical medications. I also am experienced & very comfortable with administering injections if your dog should need any, for example, insulin. We once adopted a diabetic cat who needed daily insulin injections & she lived with us for 12 years. I look forward to caring for your dog. I am willing to make visits to your home & care for your dog(s) just as you would or if you prefer you may bring your dog(s) to our home. Sally would love a playmate. She is well socialized & friendly toward any other dog she meets. The 2 old foxhounds are very accustomed to living with multiple dogs & have very laid back personalities. I will not sit dogs for multiple clients in my home at the same time. My husband & I are retired so we are home everyday. If one of us should have to leave for a short while your dog would never be left alone. We have a detached single family home on 5 acres. We are surrounded by farmland. With the farm owner's permission we go for multiple walks daily with our dogs on the neighboring land. Your dog also can enjoy these walks. While living in Maryland for 35 years, I often pet sat & farm sat for different owners, caring for dogs, cats, horses & chickens. I also operated a small horse boarding business for 30 years.
