Paula was sitter for my Penny Sue Ann (Boxer) for approximately 5 years (until Penny passed of cancer in 2010). Paula was readily available when I needed her as I traveled often for work and recreation. At the time, Paula had several dogs of her own. Before taking Penny in, Paula asked details about Penny's behavior and needs. Penny was temperamental about her food so Paula fed her separately and introduced Penny to her dogs in a fun friendly environment. Penny fit in well and connected with her furry companions. My measure of a good dog sitter? Is the dog anxious to see the sitter? Does the dog resist leaving? From the moment Penny would see Paula for drop off, she would go out of her mind (happiness)! When I went to pick Penny up, she would be happy to see me (of course), but she would show some degree of sadness like "do I really have to leave?" Dogs know (and I've experienced it), if they aren't happy with a sitter or 'doggie resort', your dog will let you know with resistant behavior.
