Reliable, respectful, responsible.

Pet care experience

Reliable, respectful, responsible. I’ve been around dogs and cats of all shapes and sizes all my life including sitting other folks pets since a kid, as well as fostering Basenji rescues for over ten years. Depending on your dog’s abilities and temperament, taking your city-dog for a walk could include a nature hike! I look forward to engaging with your four legged (or three, or two, or zero-legged) family member!! For my "day-job", I tele-work full time Monday - Friday, and must be able to log into work at 8am, and log out at 5pm on client’s high speed WiFi. In addition to pet sittings, I can visit and/or walk: before 8:00am, approx. 12:00-1:00, and after 5:30pm.  The following are my rates, updated for 2024. They should closely match the service fees found on Rover. Some fees may be negotiable. Sitting, Full-Day (12-24 hours): $58.00 [Note: all Overnight Sittings have a flat rate of $58.00/night] Dogs, cats, etc. Includes feedings, walks, interaction, play, administering medication, waste handling. Photos and check-ins available upon request. Other benefits: plant care, mail/package retrieval, etc. Each additional animal: $17.00 for Full-Day or Overnight Sitting, Half Day (6-12 Hours): $40.00 [Note: all Overnight Sittings have a flat rate of $58.00/night] Dogs, puppies, cats, etc.  Beyond twelve hours: full-day/overnight rate ($53.00) applies. Each additional animal: $12.00 for Half-Day Sitting, Additional Time (1-6 Hours): $20.00 Dogs, puppies, cats, etc.  Any amount of time beyond start time of day one, up to half day (6 hours) Each additional animal: $6.00 for Additional Time Visits/Feedings (Approximate twenty-five to thirty minute): $26.00/each Dogs, cats, etc. Includes feedings, limited interaction/play, administering medication, waste handling. Photos and check-ins available upon request. Each additional animal: $10.00 for Visit/Feeding Longer Visits/Feedings (Approximate forty-five to sixty minute visit): $36.00/each Dogs, cats, etc. Includes feedings, interaction/play, administering medication, waste handling. Photos and check-ins available upon request. Each additional animal: $10.00 for Visit/Feeding Walking (Approximate thirty-minute walk): $30.00/each Includes variable speed walks (very slow for older dogs or the sniffers, or very fast, or in-between according to pet’s ability - but no running/jogging), waste handling, provide water and/or check water level upon return. Including play with the dog's own toys is negotiable.  Each additional animal: $12.00 for half-hour walk Longer Walking (Approximate sixty-minute walk): $40.00/each Includes variable speed walks (very slow for older dogs or the sniffers, or very fast, or in-between according to pet’s ability - but no running/jogging), waste handling, provide water and/or check water level upon return. Including play with the dog's own toys is negotiable. Each additional animal: $16.00 for one-hour walk Additional Fees: Puppy rate: Add 25-50% to each fee as identified above (negotiable after our Meet’n’Greet) Holiday Rate: Add 13.00 for each unit of time or service. All California State holidays AND the following 2024 dates apply: March 31 - April 1,  May 27-30,  Jul 1-5,  Sep 2-5,  Oct 30 - Nov 1, Nov 10-12, Nov 23-26, and Dec 23 - Jan 2 Cancellations more than 72 hours from start date/time will be honored. Cancellations less than 72 hours from start time will be charged 15% of the total charge. Cancellations less than 48 hours from start time will be charged 25% of the total charge. Poor-mannered, ill behaved, or aggressive animals may earn an *additional* charge of: $15.00 for each unit of time, and/or each service. But they’ve really got to earn it ;) Boarding is not offered at this time. Bathing or grooming of any kind, except general brushing and teeth brushing (if your pet is already amenable to it) are not offered at this time. Transportation to a bather / groomer: apply additional charge for Longer Visit (negotiable). (B) I’ll reply with my general availability (and schedule a Meet’n’Greet for new clients). (C) After discussion (and Meet’n’Greet, if applicable) and acceptance of the fees (including any adjustments if necessary), payment should be made through Rover, per Rover’s terms, to secure my services on the requested service date(s)/time(s). (D)Any balance of fees for are due within 48 hours of pet owner’s return, if not already paid in full. Pet/home-owners MUST make available their reliable, high-speed internet for the duration of Sittings. Connectivity will be tested during on-site Meet’n’Greet, please have Network name and Password available Pet/home-owners MUST make available any required parking/visitor pass for the duration of Sittings at the pet/home-owners cost. Meet-and-Greets are an important part of this process. However, please be considerate of my time and/or offer token compensation. Meet-and-Greets may occur in the pet’s home or in a public place of the client’s choosing, though a home visit must be conducted before I can accept any booking. At the Meet-and-Greet, I’d hope to see an information sheet in writing about your pet(s) that addresses feeding/medication times, characteristics/temperaments, your contact and veterinary info. I’m happy to provide an information sheet for your use upon request. Thank you for your interest!

Paul did a good job with our very recently rescued, huge puppy who has a lot of special needs, medication, and behavior issues we are working on. Paul was very respectful of our space and we were very appreciative to have found him.

Paul was absolutely wonderful with our pup while we went on our belated honeymoon. He was beyond professional and friendly. He kept us up to date with our pup who has some special needs. Our dog absolutely adored Paul. Wonderful. Wonderful. Wonderful. Highly recommend.

Safety, trust & environment

I am unable to board dogs and cats in my home. Other types of animal - reptile, rat, opossum, hedgehog, etc, may be considered. I have owned and cared for all of those, incl. ball pythons and red-tailed boa, and the occasional fostering of other small and infant animals for eventual release (specifically infant/young opossum). I am personally unable to board or sit rabbits - though I can make brief house visits to keep your bunny watered and fed.

Information Paul G. would like to know about your pet

There are always little surprises. But, in our initial meeting, I hope to be shown a “poop-sheet” that addresses feeding/medication times, characteristics/temperaments, your contact and veterinary info that we can discuss.

A typical day

Your pet's in-home care will include some play and lovings and ample out-of-home walks, if that's what your pet needs. Every situation is different and I will schedule and prepare accordingly.
