Patty’s communication skills were seriously lacking. She did not tell us ahead of time that she should be gone for longer than our dog’s normal schedule - and instead was gone for 10-11 hours each weekday. This caused our dog to become stressed and begin refusing to go in her crate. After learning about this we then had to pay to set up additional dog walking sessions for our dog using our existing dog walker. Then when we asked what her schedule was for the weekend, including the Sunday when we got back, she never responded until 10pm on Saturday to tell us she would be leaving at 9am the following morning. This left us with with no way for us to change our plans since we were flying and it being too late to schedule our dog walker to come to give our dog a break before we arrived in the late afternoon. Finally to add to matters she decided to not ask us where to leave our keys but to just put them in the mailbox where any idiot would look and could then get into our house.

Distressed and very disappointed. We installed cameras and saw that Patty left our dog alone for 8.5 hours during her first full day of weekend house sitting. We were able to see this bc the cameras that we have shows us videos of people coming and going with times. I texted and called Patty when she’d been gone for 8 hours and she never replied. 30 minutes later she arrived at our house and took our dog out. She still never called or texted me back. The next morning, she quit the job and called Rover and told them she had a personal injury. We saw her leave our house the next day via our cameras and she did not appear injured. Although Rover called to offer to help us find a new sitter, we declined. Instead, we were lucky to have a reliable relative come and pet sit at the last minute. This was a huge inconvenience. Patty had “housesit” for us once before prior to us installing cameras. But we now wonder whether or not she stayed there overnight bc there was no evidence of that. Without the cameras we will never know. She did not follow my instructions regarding feeding the cats and cleaning their bowls either. This experience has caused us to decide never to use Patty nor Rover.com again.
