Focused on Care and Play

Pet care experience

I began my dog sitting adventures for friends who were foster parents for Pity Love over five years ago. Working full-time as an engineer and going forward as a full-time student, it was a great outlet for me to spend time with animals, since I currently don't have any of my own while I am in school. Since those initial years sitting, I have dog sat for numerous pups and their families, and a wide array of breeds. It has become one of the best experiences for me and I imagine the pups. When I sit, I make the animals, their care and their play my priority. We have adventures such as going on hikes around many of the parks in the area, bicycle rides, out to meet and play with other pups, and people with walks out on the town to socialize. I stay with them overnight, often sleeping on the floor with them to make them feel safe and comfortable while their family is away. We will play whatever games they enjoy indoors or outdoors if there is space to do so. I carry a wide array of pup toys with me as to make the most of any type of stimulation pups require. I recently began keeping spreadsheet data on everyone I watch as to help customize and maximize the quality of stays for the pups and me.

Patrick is an experienced large-breed dog sitter.  He has dogsat for our German Shepherd several times, and has provided lots of exercise, care and attention.  Patrick spent hours playing ball with our pup, and he even braved taking him on a bike ride! Patrick is a reliable and trustworthy petsitter- we will definitely use his service again!

Patrick has been watching my dog Luna, for times spans from a few hours to one week, since she was a very small puppy last year. He also cares for my cats on occasion. He is wonderful with all the animals, and will go out of his way to make sure time spent with them is quality time while they're under his care. He is very good at following any rules or special instructions for caring for the pets, makes sure to take Luna on nice walks and to the dog park if time allows, and also spends time relaxing with the animals at home. They are always happy to see him.

Pat cares for and bonds with each and every animal. He takes time to understand their personalitities and how to provide for the best time for the pup. He's the only person we'd trust to leave our Boxer Ella with - she's extremely energetic and loves when uncle Pat comes to watch her. A++++ 5 STARS!

Information Patrick J. S. would like to know about your pet

No breed preferences. Most of my experience with sitting comes from watching Pitt Bulls, Pit-Bull mixes, Basset Hounds, Australian Shepards, German Shepards, Blue-Heelers, Golden Doodles, Black Labs, Pugs, Both puppies and senior dogs.

A typical day

Depending on the type of visit, I generally like to make engage in any activities specific to the dog in respect to their age and energy level. If it is an older dog, with health issues, such as joints, I would want to know from the owner, what activities they can do, such as shorter walks, but spending time, playing together with toys on the floor, or if it is a young, high energy pup, well then I would want to know how far the pup can hike? Do they like to run wild in open spaces, fetch, tug-of-war or just me chasing them back and forth? I am a full-time student, so my ability to watch pups and have them engage in the activities will depend on the duration of my sitting. If I am watching animals overnights, we will absolutely go on longer walks, hikes, bike rides, if drop-in's, then a walk, feeding and play time at home. Many of the activities we would do are listed below: - Dog park (if dog is registered) - Walks on the Erie Canal, Genesee River, Lehigh Valley Trails, Neighborhood walks and walks around the city. - Hiking at one of the many parks in the area, including, but not limited to; Ellison, Mendon Ponds, Tryon, West Bay, Webster, Letchworth, etc. - Bicycle riding on Erie Canal, Lehigh Valley trails - Hanging out at beach; Hamlin, Canadaguia - Camping (if owner and dog are up for it)
