Pet care experience
I have owned several German Shepherd dogs throughout my life, each of which I raised from puppyhood. I currently have a 1.5 year old Shepherd named Bear. I am used to living with and caring for a highly energetic breed and I welcome the excitement! Bear and I love to explore new hiking trails and especially enjoy visits to the beach. Unfortunately I have become all too familiar with the chronic conditions that this breed is predisposed to so I have extensive personal experience caring for moist dermatitis (hot spots) with and without superimposed bacterial infections, limited mobility from hip dysplasia and recurrent ear infections. I am quite comfortable administering oral and topical medications.

A typical day
Hiking, beach walks, frisbee, fetch. Bear and I typically walk for at least 35 minutes twice daily. We usually stop by a park to throw the frisbee on our second walk of the day.

Availability
I work as an infectious disease fellow but only have clinical duties for about 5 months total throughout the course of the year. The rest of my time is spent working on research projects from home which allows me to be quite flexible with my availability to care for pets.
