Pet care experience

Hi, I’m Parker and I’m a recently divorced father of 2 teenage girls that now has tons of time on his hands. I got a new puppy in June of 2021, to keep me company, but I don’t have any other pets so now my puppy is lonely when I’m working. I have cared for some type of pet every day since I was eight years old, mostly dogs - and I’m now 50yo. I’d love to care for your pets for you when you can’t!! I love dogs the most, but had a really cool cat that I brought home from Alaska that I loved. When I was younger, I used to have a fawn and white-colored Boxer, but now I have a mixed breed Lab / Bully named Trailer who’s also fawn colored. There’s a live video camera overlooking my backyard that you could log into to see your pets while they stay with me. My goal is for you and your pets to have a terrific experience, despite being apart. 😀

Parker was great with Charlie and I would absolutely recommend and have no hesitations about rebooking. 5 stars isn't enough for the care provided to our CharlieDog while we were out of town

Great experience for my pup Charlie. Lovely and clean yard and home in the country. His doggy was a great companion. He gave meds and great communication with updates and vids. Very accommodating and friendly. Overall wonderful experience!

My old guy stayed with Parker for a few days while I travelled. I got daily updates as well as the link to the live video feed. Communication was great start to finish. It was super simple to drop off and pick up, other than Google Maps not quite understanding how to get to his house. ? Easy to find once I stopped listening to Google and started paying attention to house numbers. I've already got another stay booked!

My yard is larger sized, and fenced, on all sides, so your dog can run around and explore without getting out - unless it can climb or clear a 4' tall woven wire fence fabric. It’s not in a neighborhood, so, pretty nice for animals, though it’s still in town, so convenient for you too. I left a small portion of my backyard to grow because the dogs love it so much, however, I have had dogs who have gotten burrs in their long hair. I’ve since, found a product called Showsheen horse hair detangler that is supposed to get them out easily. I have pulled up all of the plants that I have seen and burned them and intend to spray Roundup on any new ones that I see, or just weed eat them down. Just FYI. I keep the dogs supplied with fresh water throughout the day and I just picked up a small wading pool for them to splash around in. The dogs that have stayed with me so far seem to really like it!

Information Parker B. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know if your dog has any special needs or anything that need to be accounted for like the following: 1. Medicine that needs to be taken & when 2. Absolutely can't eat people food 3. Cannot sleep outside at night 4. Cannot stay outside during the day 5. Protective of his food, owner and/or toys 6. Needs walked or played with twice per day 7. Won't go to sleep without ??? 8. Any tips that you are aware of that will make caring for them easier 9. Etc... I cared for our elderly dog for a few years, when he wasn't doing so good, until he passed due to old age - about eight months ago.

A typical day

I work from home during the day, unless I have to go in for something. I normally put the dogs outside in the morning so they can explore and smell and use the bathroom. I separate and feed them and then if they seem fine outside, I will leave them alone. If they seem excited to play, I will play with them, if I have time, or if you have specifically paid me to do that - hopefully until they get worn out. If they seem hot, or continue to bark, I bring them in. If they appear to want to sleep outside at night, I let them, but if they don't seem to want to, I bring them in. When I'm home, I keep a window cracked so I can hear them if they start to fight or bark, and if so, I go and see what is going on and make sure that, whatever it is, I’m handling it responsibly. I'm human and can get intimidated by aggressive animals, but I'm also brave and have jumped into the middle of a few very vicious fights before and must have been the Alpha because I came out of them unscathed. Dogs truly can sense fear and will likely take control of you if you display it. They also feed off their owner’s emotions, so if they sense that you are scared, they may also get scared. If they sense that you are afraid that they will get in a fight, they are more likely to get in the fight that you are afraid of - which is kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy. However, if you can do your best to not feel or display fear, your dog will be less likely to be concerned or to do it. You may not believe me, but it is true. Try it sometime and make note of the results; I have. My dog Trailer has lots of energy, so I’m sure he would play with your dog until they get tired - unless your dog lets him know that it doesn't want to play, and then he usually leaves them alone - if they are more Alpha. If Trailer is more Alpha and I can tell that he is causing a problem, I will remove him from the situation. Ultimately, every dog and situation is different and must be dealt with responsibly. My instincts are good and I have a great deal of self-control. You can rest assured that your pets will be paid attention to. I believe in corporal punishment, in addition to rewards, and have brought my dog up in that manner. I believe it was a good decision because he’s very well behaved and he, like any animal, is capable of extreme violence - and he’s, my responsibility. To be a responsible owner I have to make for certain that he will listen to me – and obeys! The discipline that I instilled in him is necessary for his protection, as well as everyone else's. If he won't listen and runs out in the road, or bites someone or dies in an altercation, among other things, then it would have been my fault for not preparing him for a life where there is order and consequences for your actions. I would love to tell you that my caring for your pet will be nothing but great times, sunshine and Disney Land, but the truth is, despite all the things that I’m making available and my best intentions, your pet has a mind of it's own and their behavior, and my own, cannot be predicted when life presents something un-anticipated. I can promise, however, that I will be responsible, first and foremost, and loving and caring - even if I must discipline them and that I hope that everything goes great - and that they feel like they’ve been to Disney. I like to talk to them a lot, too. It helps us to build a relationship and to communicate. I realize that some people don’t believe in corporal punishment, and I respect that that is your belief. If so, and you still want me to keep your pet, I will respect your wishes and wouldn’t ever do it, unless it is locked in a fight with another dog; and at that point I can’t promise that I won’t be physical. The last thing that I want is for anyone’s pet to get injured, and honestly it breaks my heart to have to discipline my dog, but it is necessary and my responsibility.

Availability

I live alone and I work from home, so I’m available for keeping your pet for the day as well as boarding. My dog sleeps inside most nights and is in and out throughout the day; if your pet is house-trained it’s welcome to do the same. If it uses the bathroom in my house, however, it won't be allowed back inside the main house, only the poker room. My dog Trailer is pretty strong and he likes to wrestle with other dogs, so please keep that in mind and advise if that needs to be prevented. 😀 I have a few different fenced in areas so separating pets shouldn’t be a problem. Also, if you’d like me to keep your pet but don’t want my dog around your dog, I could accommodate that as well. I also have 3 doghouses but only one dog so…
