Pet care experience

I invite your dog to be a guest in my home. I live in a quiet neighborhood. My house has a large, fenced in, back yard that your dog will have access to 24/7 through a dog door. The back yard is double gated for extra security. Your dog will have free run in the house or back yard. I like to take dogs out for walk about 3:00 M-F and mornings on the weekends. I grew up in upstate NY with 20 horses. My family owns Juckas Stables a horseback riding stable established in 1965. We always had a dog and cat. Growing up we also had rabbits, ducks, sheep and occasionally a donkey, pig, calf or llama. I've lived in Marin County since 1993. I worked at the Marin Humane Society for a total of 8 years. 5 years as an Animal Control officer, 1 year in bookkeeping and 2 years managing the spay/neuter clinic. I understand dogs well and will make sure your dog is comfortable during his/her stay. Contact me anytime. About this sitter: I grew up with animals. I'm sensitive to their needs and will take excellent care of your pet. I'm an active person that takes one hour hikes 4-5 times a week. Why I love dog sitting Growing up we had a poodle mix named Charlie. He was a great family dog. Then just before I went off to college at 18 I got my first puppy named Raisin. She was the runt of the litter and grew to be 80 pounds. She was a lab/Rott mix and lived to be 13. After her came Sheena, a Scottish Terrier I adopted while working as an animal control officer at the Marin Humane Society. I wasn't used to small dogs and hadn't planned to adopt her but after fostering her for 3 weeks...I couldn't part with her. She was 5 when I got her and lived until she got her "wings" at 13. After a year or two I adopted Tina. Tina is an easygoing lab mix that gets along with people, dogs and cats. She is such a doll. She's 9 now and still going strong. She likes doggie company. Meet my pets Happy "Happy" the cat About my yard I have a double gated large, back yard. It's private and full of plants, shady places and a couch under the awning in the back. There is also a small, covered fish pond.

Bella came home relaxed and happy. Pam sent plenty of pictures over the course of the weekend that included dog park adventures and couch lounging - many thanks!

We had a great experience with Pam. Our golden has never returned home so happy and calm when we've gone away. He was obviously well loved in his time with Pam and we're so grateful!!! She has a great yard, took him on nice walks, sent photos and was in communication when we wanted, but not too much. Highly recommend!

This was our first overnight experience and Pam was amazing with our dog. She understood his quirks and quickly made him comfortable at her home.

I look forward to hosting calm, older or low energy dogs. While I can take them for an hour hike after work...they have to be comfortable enough to curl up and nap while I'm at work. I've been dog sitting since 2013 and thoroughly enjoy it when I get to take care of someones dog. I've had dogs all my life but after my dog Tina got her wings I decided to let my cat be my only animal as I am beginning to travel more often. My cat, "Happy", is very dog savvy. I work M-F. The house is empty and quiet about 7 hours while I'm at work. My neighbors are close enough to know if a dog is experiencing separation anxiety. So for your dog and my neighbors sake it's best that your dog is used to a routine of being left alone for 7 hours at a time comfortably without having separation anxiety. There is a dog door so your dog can get into the back yard to take care of business or nap in the sun. Also, I'd like to know what kind of special needs your dog might have.

A typical day

Here's where we'll take our walks I usually go to Indian Valley, Mt. Burdell or walk up the hill from my house. I like to walk dogs off leash if your dog will stay by me. If not, I will use a leash. Your dog's sleeping arrangement In the house on a dog bed. Time I'll spend with your dog Your dog will hang out with me in the house though there is a dog door so if they prefer the outdoors they can get to the fenced in backyard through the doggie door. I usually have 3-4 times per week for a one hour hike. Other days we go on a short walk.
