Pet care experience
I've been a dog walker, dog sitter, dog hiker, dog jogger, and dog owner nearly my whole life. Pet care isn't just a job to me, it's a friendship. My dog clients are a big part of my life, and I'm genuinely happy to see them. As I get to know a dog, I give them more of what they need and like. I work with them to build leash and walking skills. I observe their behavior carefully to try to understand what they're thinking and feeling. I care for them like they're my own. I'm a kind, calm, loving, disciplined person with a good head on my shoulders and a soothing disposition, and my goal is to be a positive part of the life of every dog I meet. I'm still in touch with many of my old dog friends from my hometown in Alaska, and I see them whenever I visit.

Owen did an amazing job dog sitting for three nights at our condo. Our special needs, older dog was well-cared for and happy upon our return. Owen communicated daily with us and followed all of our instructions in terms of medications, walks, and feedings. Owen treated our dog and home as if they were his own. This is our first time using an overnight pet sitter, but Owen totally put us at ease and I feel comfortable to go out of town again now that we have such a trustworthy and responsible sitter. I highly recommend Owen, and for sure will hire him again for future sitting and walking needs! Thank you!

I'm a very affectionate pet friend, but I always watch for cues to see how an animal is feeling. I want them to be happy and assured, so if they seem like they need something different than they're getting, I'll change it up to try and help them. Some dogs especially can become very anxious and insecure when their people are gone, and I'll put the time in to show them they're still safe and loved until their proper people come home!

I always meet dogs before I sit them, but I've never rejected a dog I've met yet. I've taken care of dogs with severe anxiety, aggression problems, health problems, developmental disabilities, and dogs which require regular medication.
A typical day
Your pets will get a lot of companionship while I watch them. I try to keep the pet's normal routine of feedings and outings, so if your describe a typical day in your dog's life, that's what I'll generally do.

Availability
I only sit one household at a time. You would be surprised how many people book multiple sits to make more money, even though this inevitably means your pets will be left alone for long periods of time and may get almost no contact in between. Honestly, Rover should take more responsibility in that regard. In any case I'll never take another sit if I've booked with you unless you explicitly allow it. That's why I charge more!
